i'm about to start a mega blitz of the house. it's bad. i'm going to do 45 minute blasts starting with dcs' bedroom. landlord is coming with a potential new tenant to view so it has to be good.

anyone up for joining me or just kicking me up the bum if you catch me on MN? Grin

going to start at 4.30 and i'll report back at 45 minute intervals with a progress update.

join me join me!!

you're on a roll!!

i achieved a good bit today aswell. got one wash in tumbler, another on to wash at the minute which will go in tumbler when done. i put all of the dc's clothes in their wardrobe (about 2 weeks worth had built up on the kitchen counter and table. and put all the clean towels away. i scrubbed the bathroom from top to almost floor. the floor is the only thing i haven't done but i'm going to do the bedrooms tomorrow and do all the floors together. i do have a problem though, i dont usually do the bathroom in it's entirity (is that a word?) but as the dcs have had diarhoea i wanted to make sure i was getting all the nasty germs. BUT, it took ages! granted i was running in every few minutes to check the dcs and stop them doing things they shouldnt have been doing but it took about 2 hours and it is a normal sized bathroom in a terraced house, just bath basin and loo and walls. i dont know why it took so long. it's panicking me because i know i have to do the whole house the same way (am moving soon and need to get the house good and clean) but if each room takes the same amount of time (adjusted for size) then i'll never get it done, not unless someone takes my dcs away for a fortnight! Grin anyway, i shall plod on tomorrow with the bedrooms and hopefully it will be quicker.

I use the cleaning wipes for the bathroom.

If the whole house is a shit tip (more than usual) and I need to do something about it, I do a 'crisis clean' 15m timer and do kitchen (empty/reload dishy, run a sink full of hot water, do any other washing up, wipe sides) then when time is up I do 5mins in the sitting room then 5mins in dining room then sit down with a drink for 10mins. Then round 2 I do 5mins hall and bottom stairs, then 5 mins bathroom. Then take sine washing down, do some laundry, and that will do for now.

However, if ds is not cooperating, then it is almost impossible!

my house isn't really bad for clutter. apart from the dishes in the kitchen it's really proper cleaning that just hasn't been done in ages that i need to tackle. things like windows, inside and out, grubby walls from the dcs and dog, woodwork, light switches and door handles, the fridge, oven, microwave, all the floors need swept and mopped, the sofas need hoovered (full of crumbs and dust) and washed down (leather), all the mirrors and loads of little jobs that have been neglected.

I quite enjoy those jobs (maybe because they are a novelty? :o)

Grin you're welcome to come round here anytime!

Shall we do a swap? :o

IAmBooyhoo · 27/04/2012 16:45

i think you might be more use to me than i would be to you. so far today i have acheived;

a wash in the tumbler
lunch Grin
washed dishes
swept the hall
collected post from old address
left rubbish off at the dump

why do these tasks seem to take so long?? i seem to have to stop every few minutes to distract/separate/shout at/ redirect/entertain the dcs. tehy want me to fail. i can feel it. Grin

Going to need a serious pointy stick tomorrow. Got a friend of DH coming over for dinner, the house is in desperate need of a good tidy, more decluttering and a fecking good scrub and hoover.

MrsNouveauRichards · 29/04/2012 17:45

I have done loads, can't list it all, but have been on the go all bloody day!

IAmBooyhoo · 29/04/2012 17:50

Morning, was a good night but from 10pm onwards I was struggling to keep my eyes open - this housework lark is pretty tiring!

Need to get the dishy loaded this morning as didn't get it done last night, but going to get my money's worth from the tidy house and have invited some friends over this morning :o

Now, can we keep it tidy.....
