Oh, I forgot it was vouchers carrots Sad

You should have gone to bed scout! (want to rant?)

carrotsandcelery · 16/04/2012 22:08

I should just enjoy the freebie vouchers and not over analyse it I think. We could have had no soundbar and no clothes. I will just give him the Next bill when I make it Grin

Scout19075 · 16/04/2012 22:08

It's nothing specific. Just wishing he had stayed at his parents' like I suggested. His constant time pushing means his dinner is cold and nasty (and recooked pasta is gross). And now, trying to top up his medicine, he's managed to get a staple stuck in his thumb (under the nail). I paranoid about blood because of my issues but he's acting like a big toddler about it.

Scout19075 · 16/04/2012 22:12

And now he's telling me he doesn't know if he's going to stay down there tomorrow like he told me he was going to.

ARGH!

carrotsandcelery · 16/04/2012 22:20

In that case Scout leave him a stew in the slow cooker or a nice tray of sandwiches wrapped in cling film and get yourself to bed tomorrow. Both of you being exhausted won't help any of you.

Scout19075 · 16/04/2012 22:29

He's been fed at a work do tomorrow, which means late night which is why he was going to stay down in the Thames Valley rather than coming home to East Anglia. But I was looking forward to a night off and to myself -- to watch my DVDs and go to bed whenever I want without feeling like I'm being hurried or waited for.

Scout19075 · 17/04/2012 06:54

I went to bed before MrScout last night. Was sound asleep. He emailed me (from bed, I'm assuming), to comment on Toddler's room and his (MrScout's) precious paperwork "that's already been through and used to be in a neat pile on the floor." What the blazes is paperwork you've already sorted through (some stuff from when he was in school, mind!) doing on the floor for months?!?! The email was very "you haven't put it for the bin have you? I've been through it!" I told him it wasn't in a neat pile and if he had looked he'd have noticed a file box containing all of his treasure since the paperwork was NOT in a nice pile and he can go through it in a few days when he's home. ARGH!

Rant over.

Cold and windy start to our day -- no outside play for small boys today (not until we get appropriate weather gear that fits (he's outgrown the warmer wet weather clothes he had). I need to set to my plan of action and to do list.

I hear Toddler chattering & reading. He'll need an early nap given no nap yesterday, his startle then inability to fall back to sleep and now early wake up.

CamperWidow · 17/04/2012 07:28

Scout :( Can't offer any advice, sorry, but very unMN (((hugs))).
It's really grotty here, been raining all night, so we're stuck in too. :(
We have decided to do a bit of a 'Sesame Street' and pick a letter for each day! Don't know how it's gonna work, but we'll give it a go! Today is P, so she is currently playing with Mr Potato head, then we're gonna be pirates and paint a treasure chest on an old egg box and make the treasure, then this afternoon we're gonna be princesses and have a party! Hope all the other letters are as easy!!!! Grin

carrotsandcelery · 17/04/2012 08:48

Oh Scout, that just sounds so stressful. Could he be allowed one room (I know you don't have many) to pile up papers and stuff to his heart's content and then allow you and TS the others to move freely in? I know it is not ideal but it might end the rows. It must be very stressful waiting for the next inquisition all the time.

Dd has just stormed out the door to school and slammed the door behind her Hmm

Happy, Happy, Happy!!!

carrotsandcelery · 17/04/2012 08:49

Hi zoo I am sorry but I know nothing about cats. I know loads of the flyers here do though.

I like the "p" day Camper. My surname begins with a P so I feel included Grin

Dh and I sat up all night and watched Sesame St the night we met so we still have a soft spot for it. Awwwww!

Scout19075 · 17/04/2012 08:58

Thanks Camper. Just needed a rant. Feel free to ignore.

MrScout has emailed with an "oh, that's good! Thanks!" sort of message.

It is very not nice out. I keep watching the parents & kids going by on their way too school (infants with nursery at bottom of road, primary at the other end & down a bit) and they all look miserable and fed up.

Ohhhhh, John Lewis customer service rocks! They've just offered to refund or replace my slow cooker. YAY! I love my slow cooker and am really missing it with MrScout's new client. Replacement please!

Scout19075 · 17/04/2012 09:01

Carrots, we only have four rooms: kitchen/dining, living room, TS's bedroom and our bedroom. TS's room also doubles as an "office" of sort. There really isn't much space. I'm willing to turn over 3/4 of our bedroom to him but would like to sort it, first, so things are boxed/organized not sprawling everywhere.

Scout19075 · 17/04/2012 09:05

We seem to have a new, very complicated looking track being set up here. TS still hasn't worked out how to make loops that connect yet (not bothered, he's only 2.5) but he's getting very good at complicated lines and junctions. And it appears that Duplo train track is part of the system. My boy does love his trains!

carrotsandcelery · 17/04/2012 09:54

Scout this is a bit of a rude question possibly but if the budget allows would MrScout consider renting a storage unit? I know it is a bit extreme but then he could store as much as he felt he needed to and you would be able to move freely about your home.

I know it doesn't solve his hoarding but it would move it elsewhere.

Scout19075 · 17/04/2012 10:15

Not rude, carrots, and I've asked him myself several times (pre and post Toddler).

bessie26 · 17/04/2012 10:21

I was going to suggest that too scout - what does he think about it?

A while ago, I think someone was talking about some cheap temporary clothes storage? (possibly not on this thread!) - I just spotted these cardboard wardrobes at Argos

I just tried to implement (phase 1 of) my cunning toy storage plan in the living room, but it has failed. If I move the bookshelves up so I can fit the storage boxes underneath, it is too high to get 2 shelves a toddler can reach (I had a suspicion this might be the case, but actually needed to try it out to see.) I think I'm going to have to get some trofast, but the problem is, it doesn't actually give me that much more storage than I currently have (although it is alot neater)

carrotsandcelery · 17/04/2012 10:33

The toy storage is an eternal problem. The only hope I can offer is that as they get older the stuff becomes smaller and more expensive Hmm

I do wish I had been more brutal when the dcs were younger and had asked myself "Do we need to keep this?" and had got rid of what we didn't need.

There is also the toy rotation option.

I don't store any toys in the kitchen (our living area). They keep it all in their rooms (apart from the playmobil which is now stored in the spare room) and we try to have a one down one up policy. It is not entirely policed but if we keep on top of it it works reasonably well.

I currently have Littlest Pet Shop in the kitchen and loads of drawing debris but that is all.

carrotsandcelery · 17/04/2012 10:34

Those carboard wardrobes look fab bessie and I do think the plastic drawer units are the safest way for the dcs to pull out a box of toys. I imagine Trofast does the same job.

carrotsandcelery · 17/04/2012 10:35

I am off (in the rain) to get my hair cut. It could go either way. Wish me luck Grin

bessie26 · 17/04/2012 11:25

I am decluttering books. If I can get them down to one shelf, my argos storage boxes will fit.

Enjoy your haircut carrots. I need to go out (in the rain) soon too. DH has decided he doesn't really like the green (that he chose) I was going to paint the utility room, so need to get another tester. I also want to buy another dirty laundry bin which means a trip down to The Range &/or Dunelm

zoo - you need one of these and what kind of litter are you using? the white clumpy stuff is much much much better at absorbing smells & although it is more expensive to buy a bag, you only take out the 'clumps' & then top up each time, rather than emptying it all into the bin.

Scout19075 · 17/04/2012 11:40

Toddler's just gone for a nap and I'm making lunch. Anyone else about?

bessie26 · 17/04/2012 11:46

I'm here, but should be tidying up the books on the floor!

Scout19075 · 17/04/2012 11:55

I should be doing something but instead I'm eating pasta and watching DVDs.

bessie26 · 17/04/2012 12:08

sounds like a good rainy day activity scout!

I'm off now to get my new storage boxes, bin & paint.
