arti I thought I was the queen of napping on this thread, but you are out snoozing me! Envy - what hours do you sleep at night to be napping for that long every(?) day? The only time I regularly slept for that long was when I had an undiagnosed underactive thyroid!

carrotsandcelery · 28/04/2012 22:38

I can't get over the amount of napping that goes on on this thread. Am I the only one who can't nap slogs on all day?

share your secrets with me.

bessie26 · 28/04/2012 22:44

I am lazy

educatingarti · 28/04/2012 22:50

Bessie and Carrots- I've been seeing various doctors and getting tests done. I went to see my GP in January when I slept for 20 hours! So far they've not found any problems apart from the glucose intolerance ( thyroid is normal on blood tests though tbh I do wonder about this - especially given v strong family history of thyroid problems)! I am seeing a rheumatologist again next month and I suspect that he will diagnose fibromyalgia as I get lots of pain in muscles and joints too. The muscle/joint pain wakes me a lot at night so I don't get very refreshing sleep either. I have just started on a new painkiller though so I'll see if that helps.

Meanwhile, I've been having some B12 injections and that has helped somewhat (I'm not as bad as I was in January).

I can't nap on Mondays- Thursdays because of work but need to do some serious napping on Fridays - Sundays to catch up. Otherwise I'd be totally exhausted and stop functioning. Fortunately being self-employed means I can manage my working hours round my condition to some extent.

I've also had a bit of a crappy pear-shaped week with trying to fit in an additional 4 (yes 4) medical/health related appointments round work without having to cancel anything and lose income. Also my Dad is ill with a life limiting illness and news about him has not been good this week! so all this has added to my tiredness!

bessie26 · 28/04/2012 23:17

arti sorry to hear about your dad.

Your napping routine sounds exactly like mine was before I was diagnosed. I worked tue/wed/thur, but would HAVE to nap for at least 1.5hrs every afternoon I wasn't working (thankfully DD1 was a good napper, although I do worry she has inherited more than my lazy gene) & be asleep in bed by 930 every night, and even then was only just managing to function.

How many times have they tested you? Do you have any other symptoms? What were your levels? I know of other people (on here) whose levels fluctuated wildly for a while. Sorry if I am being too nosey & unhelpful, but I had symptoms for several months & only got tested because I demanded tests after 2 mc.

DD2 is full of snot & currently sleeping on my shoulder. Will have to try to get her back into bed soon

educatingarti · 28/04/2012 23:27

Have been tested twice recently - both times within normal limits but I'm aware that it isn't that clear-cut. My sister has sent me loads of links I have yet to look at about how you really need to test active T3 and T4 levels rather than standard NHS tests. It is something I intend to raise again with rheumatologist next month but basically unless you show below normal levels on standard NHS tests they aren't prepared to take it any further/treat you. There are private doctors who look at things on a more "functional" basis but of course it costs ££££. My sis is quite an "expert" on all the issues that can go with thyroid problems as she has experienced a lot herself. I am waiting to see how she gets on with a private Dr.

carrotsandcelery · 28/04/2012 23:28

Sorry Arti we must have cross posted and I missed your post.

I am sorry about your dad.

Like bessie I have an underactive thyroid and although it was noticed after I had dd they didn't medicate me until I announced I was expecting ds. (there is a 3 year 7 month gap between them).

I think they delayed because it can go a bit wrong after childbirth and then sort itself out on its own. Mine didn't.

It is worth having a few checks to see if it is fluctuating. Some doctors are more aware than others about it.

I really am off to bed this time...

bessie26 · 28/04/2012 23:32

I always have T3 & T4 levels tested (on NHS) One tells you how much thyroxine is in your system & the other tells you how hard your thyroid had to work to get it to that level. I'm sure your sis has told you this already, but get your actual results, rather than just being told you are within the "normal" range as different drs have different ideas about what is an acceptable level.

DD2 is safely in bed, think I'd better go too incase I get woken later!

educatingarti · 28/04/2012 23:34

I must go to bed too! Final ta das

I have sorted my music, put washing on airer, fulled both sinks with very hot water with bleach in. put empty plastic bottles etc that were on drainer into recycling and put away paint brushes that have been drying on my dish rack! Up early tomorrow but then off to a "barbecue" at lunch time ( it'll probably be an indoor one I think!)

liveinazoo · 29/04/2012 08:18

Morning everyone!

Ta Das:

mud and grit wiped out of the bath, bath rinsed, cleaned, rinsed, cleaned etc... Not sure if it is clean yet but at least Twilight is clean

wm on - not using Tesco freebie as it has left a big mound of wet powder in the drawer of the machine and the washing didn't smell too good.

dw unloaded and reloaded - was more horrific than that sounds

worktops cleaned - also was more horrific than it sounded

emailed ebay customer

Not bad for a Sunday morning Smile

carrotsandcelery · 29/04/2012 13:39

Ta Das:

Flapjacks made

wm load hung

new load in machine

washed and dressed

bessie26 · 29/04/2012 13:46

Yes, I have done Shred zoo I am still on the easy level, but think it is great, the workout takes about 20mins, so is fairly easy to find time for (you will want a quick shower after too!). I think camper does it too?
