Due to the sun coming out I have come over all spring like and had my annual urge to clean the house. I'm procrastinating over doing my oven as its such a disgusting place - eek! Is there a quick and easy way to clean my oven or should I carry on with my "it can't get any dirtier" approach?

have you got a dishwasher?

you may be able to put the racks and/or sides and/or bottom and/or top in there

maybenow · 07/03/2012 21:27

stupid question but when you smear the ovenpride stuff all over the inside.. how do you get it all OUT and OFF properly? or does your food smell of ovenpride for the next few weeks?

diddiehunter · 07/03/2012 22:26

I used the aldi , it came with a lil sponge that I used to clear it out,i did use a bowl if hot water and a squidge of soap to clean it off!

If oven is like mine, it needs more than a dishwasher to clean ! And my top and bottom bits aren't removable!

Sadly I don't have dishwasher :( I have used ovenpride and mr muscle before and found both to be a PITA to rinse off - me and the floor get covered in horrible brown stuff and it never seems to come off the oven. Also the oven doesn't seem to be any cleaner? Maybe all my ovens have been exceptionally fiithy Grin

Oven Pride didn't work on mine either prettyprudence.

I've tried all sorts and my oven is supposed to be self-cleaning but it's hopeless at that, just heats up a little and then you wipe it.

I'll watch with interest to see if anything miraculous is suggested.

I'm in rented accommodation Fiolondon, as soon as I own my own home a self cleaning oven is on my mahoosive list of essentials, along with self cleaning windows, a double bath, double shower, double sinks.... going to need a mansion and a lottery win at this rate Grin

Almost forgot to add live-in housekeeper to the list Grin

This stuff is amazing, works like magic (admittedly my filthy oven took two goes), no smell, paints on iven and shelves too, wipes off... Worth every penny - www.lakeland.co.uk/4972/Oven-Mate-Cleaning-Gel.
