Sad

MrScout is working from YOUT so didn't leave until 7 instead of 6:30. I think he left earlier-than-usual-for-YOUT because he has a doctor's appointment this afternoon (a medication review) so will have to leave work early. However, it does mean Toddler will get to see his daddy. Grin

Toddler's still sleeping (I'm assuming as I haven't heard a peep). We were supposed to have a playdate at the soft play with a toddler-pub sounding name but his friend and her brother have a tummy bug. Sad I might still take him, but to the local soft play, just for a run around. I think we need a run around.

Today's plan is the normal tick-over stuff (washing up, cooking, etc.) but also hope to:
pack for Seniors (meeting tomorrow)
wash/dry/away all towels (bath, kitchen, swimming)
iron all work shirts
update presents spreadsheet
place AG order (that requires calling a US timezone GMT-6 so can't do it until this afternoon or evening)
wrap presents (birthday (all three SsiL have birthdays this month) and neices'/nephews'/Toddler's Easter Eggs (bought them last night on a 3 for 1 special))

Oh, I can't remember who asked, but I'm giving up Seniors at the end of the school year (July). We only meet twice a month but still, I do a lot via email since half the girls come to Tuesday meetings and have to Wednesdsay I never have a full contingent. I've already given up Guides though I had said originally I'd give them to the end of this term. I'm the only leader for Seniors so wanted to see out the school year, no matter when I start the new meds.

bessie26 · 06/03/2012 09:02

Wow you have all been busy!

Every Tuesday DD1 spends the day at her GPs. Today DD2 has gone too. The house is very quiet.

Oooh! Hot Spots - my weak link Blush

Morning everyone.

Sorry to hear about the tricky mornings. Hugs and boots to all who need them. Social services might be round here as I ended up having to shout at ds and then force brush his teeth which was unpleasant for all involved. Sad

He was sent off with a cuddle and a kiss and told me he loved me so I don't think there is any lasting trauma.

I have taken Twilight for a saunter to cool off and am now on my first Brew of the day.

Scout that all sounds very complicated. I hope you get it all done.

I am fretting about Mother's Day. My ddad phoned last week when I was still a bit fuzzy after my little accident and made arrangements but my dbro was concerned about them as his youngest dd is being tricky just now. I think we have made a new plan but everyone seems a bit disappointed that they aren't getting to the restaurant they wanted to go to.

Those of you with 2 year olds will sympathise as I think my dbro is trying to avoid a scene in a poshish restaurant with a screaming toddler. I seem to be stuck in the middle.

My compromise has been to suggest that those who are disappointed go out to the posh restaurant another day. Grin

I am stuck at home today waiting for the tv repairman to return our tv so I am hoping to get a reasonable amount done. Hopefully today the phone won't be as red hot and I will get more done.

Ta das so far:

washed and dressed
dcs breakfasted
dcs dressed (major battle with ds)
kitchen chairs in hallway so I can clean that section of the floor (there are 10 so I got the dcs to help)
dcs lunch and snacks made (dh helped as it was all going wrong)
dcs to school
Twilight walked.

It feels like a lot more as that lot was hard work.

BlackCatTryingToFly · 06/03/2012 10:12

Feeling a little better now but still tired.

{{Hugs to Carrots}}

I have also done:
DC to school/nursery
hoovered dining room
fed the cat
loaded the washing machine with a pink wash (Mostly DD's)
I still have a backlog of dry washing that needs putting away Blush

I think my best bet for today is to do small amounts of each job so I think the timer may be getting used a lot.

carrotsandcelery · 06/03/2012 10:29

Thanks BC. I am just getting my head down and getting on with it.

The timer sounds like a good idea for both of us today.

I have made 2 phone calls that needed to be done and put the wm on again. It contains the same sleeping bag as it did yesterday as it still smelt horrid. I have put it on a hotter wash so fingers crossed. It is worth the risk as it will be in the bin if I can't sort it out (it is very old - I used it when I was a dc!!)

I have also hoovered and mopped the middle section of the kitchen. I pulled the sideboard and tv stand out and there was A LOT of dog hair in behind them but it is all sparkly now. I will have to watch my neck and back though as it is clearly still healing and was a bit twingy. Shock

I am currently mopped into the sitting area (with 2 dogs) so having another wee break Grin

OP posts:
BlackCatTryingToFly · 06/03/2012 10:35

Did you go to the doctors about your injuries Carrots?

I still get the odd ache in my neck/back after I was in a car accident 12 years ago Shock.

Please be careful!

liveinazoo · 06/03/2012 10:35

im with you on that bc...im already tired and ready to go back to bed

have done quick essentials shop after school run and put away.

now sitting on my arse watching jeremy kyle vile on plus 1 whilst ramming a gigantic bowl of cerealGrin

will be pointysticks at the ready by 1oclock club

had rant at council this morning as well as my garden waste bin wasnt picked up yesterday

still have toilet in garden waiting to be collected from last thursHmm
ranted at them yesterday for that pointing out its hardly an atractive garden ornament!Grin

BlackCatTryingToFly · 06/03/2012 10:38

I will try the 1.00 club --if I'm not too tired-- but I might need to break it into small amounts of activity Wink

carrotsandcelery · 06/03/2012 10:45

zoo I hope you are not on the route home from any pubs or you know what will happen if you have a loo in your garden!!!! Have you seen/read The Help? Your garden ornament is making me think of that!

BC I didn't go to the doc as I can't see what they could do for me really. I did consider seeing my physio (but am too stingy). I maybe should. I have existing nerve damage from my twenties and I can't tell if it has aggravated that or if it is just bruised and will sort itself out. Either way I know the best thing is to keep moving but not to do anything too adventurous. Moving the furniture was a bit silly and stubborn of me Blush

I think the floor is nearly dry so I should get on with the next stage. I still have to do the dw and worktops too. One step at a time though.

OP posts:
liveinazoo · 06/03/2012 10:48

suits me bc

carrots must be something in the air with boys today...i had tears he wanted tay with me before we left the house.clung hand all way saying wanted biggest hug ever when he came out.then whistle went and he held on so tight in stead lining up i had to physically push him away from me and he looked back with sorrowfull puppy eyes as went in.

guilty bad mum awards for both of us today

on lighter note got bunch reduced daffodils today so i have something nice to look at when i wash up...cant find vase though so sitting in jar, very shabby chic cept cant get baxters beetroot label off if.ha haGrin

liveinazoo · 06/03/2012 10:56

just finished scoffing and noticed have go pick up little zoo in 5mins

BlackCatTryingToFly · 06/03/2012 11:02

I am sitting here with a blanket and a hot Chocolate. It feels a bit colder here today.

carrotsandcelery · 06/03/2012 11:31

It is zero here today BC and windy so that is why you feel cold. Tiredness always makes me cold too. I am cosy now though from my mopping so maybe some mopping will help Grin

zoo I think your behaviour is entirely the right thing to do whereas mine was partially fuelled by frustration Blush He has to clean his teeth but surely not that way. I will ask the psychologist about it on Thurs. I think it was a delay tactic. We had a row about it the night before and I think it is a new thing he is using to put off facing the thing he doesn't want to face.

zoo I sense a colouring in project coming on for little zoo. Decorate the jar with a paper sleeve - even more beautiful to look at while you do dishes that way.

My whole kitchen/diner/family room is hoovered and mopped now. Yay! Pup did immediately go and sit in the middle of it (while still wet) but he is now curled up in the lounge with me while it dries. He is nice and cosy too BC - can you persuade your cat to cuddle up and warm you up?

Dw is finally on and worktops cleaned too.

Next job is putting the chairs and dog beds back in the kitchen and hoovering the hallway.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 06/03/2012 12:10

Ta Da

  • Home Blessing done - except for mopping utility room floor, the cats looked so cozy in their bed I couldn't bring myself to kick them outside!
  • bathroom floor mopped
  • hotspot - did the post pile - definately an ongoing job!
  • DW/TD on

need to check the list to see what I need to do this arvo, but working out what the DDs are going to have for tea is priority (cupboards are bare!). Am also going to try to do a mission.

carrots teeth brushing is always a tricky one. Some things (like brushing hair) I will let go, but I think teeth brushing is non-negotiable. When DD1 was playing up we made it into a game, but I'm guessing your DS is too old for that? How about showing him picture of rotten teeth? or getting him some of those tablets which turn the plaque pink? Or is he still tired from the weekend?

carrotsandcelery · 06/03/2012 12:16

bessie you are right. A game would have been much better and would usually work. We were both experiencing sense of humour failure today though. I agree that it is non negotiable. Maybe the horror of it will make him more cooperative tonight. I think we are both still tired and my discomfort is wearing away at my patience. Feel like a horrid mum Sad

Chairs and dog beds back into the kitchen and hallway hoovered.

Now I need to find some food for lunch and then make tonight's meal.

OP posts:
bessie26 · 06/03/2012 12:19

ahhh carrots teeth brushing is important - he needs to understand that Could you get a quick nap in this afternoon? Might make their bedtime easier for you both?

carrotsandcelery · 06/03/2012 12:24

I will make sure I try hard to have a laugh with him tonight and take some painkillers, timed to be in full force when required. I don't do well with daytime naps generally. They make me queasy.

He has probably forgotten all about it.

Shepherd's pie or haggis, neaps and tatties for tea? I can't decide.

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 06/03/2012 12:41

Morning soft play is just what both Toddler and I needed. He can't quite pull himself up on the big kids bit (needs about another 1/2 inch or some more upper body strenght) so we spent ages climbing around together, going down the slide ("ap (lap), mummy! Ready, steady, GO! Weeeeee!!!"), having a laugh. He also had several rides on the mechanical car with other kids other kids would put the money in and decide they didn't like it so Toddler would have a free-- ride all to himself. And the mum of one boy, who kept walloping Toddler around the head, gave him a toy from the bubble machines as a sorry.

Ta Dahs:
no washing up in the sink
kitchen trash to bin
diaper pail emptied & contents to bin
recycling to bin
decluttered the ironing board (it more-or-less stays up because it's too hard to put down)

I'm having a rest and will do some of computer stuff I need to do until the 1 o'clock club.

What's everyone having for lunch?

carrotsandcelery · 06/03/2012 12:47

Oh lunch! I had better get cracking so I can do something in the one o'clock club.

I sense peanut butter and iceberg lettuce coming on although I am still craving the cheese on toast you mentioned yesterday Scout.

OP posts:
BlackCatTryingToFly · 06/03/2012 12:55

Today I'm having Leek and potato soup.

carrotsandcelery · 06/03/2012 13:01

That sounds yum BC and much healthier than the smoked cheese and onion toastie I have just made myself. Grin I also have a fresh Brew and the heating on. Bliss!

OP posts:
bessie26 · 06/03/2012 13:05

I had a shepards pie I found in the freezer

I have reached new levels of decadence. I am having a bath in the afternoon! Shock Grin

BlackCatTryingToFly · 06/03/2012 13:06

Right, I'm going to try and work till 1.30 then have a rest then try to do some more.

carrotsandcelery · 06/03/2012 13:09

bessie daytime baths are definitely the way forward. Infact, once the dcs are old enough to take themselves to school in the morning I could spend the whole day in the bath Grin It would save money as I wouldn't need to put the heating on! [frugal]
