Would love a pale wood / bleached wide plank wooden floor suitable for a large kitchen living room. Any suggestions?

wouldn't put wood in a kitchen, not good for wet or splashy areas - have a look at Karndean

I have bamboo in my kitchen/living room. It is very pretty. But the problem with it in the kitchen is that one tends to drop things on it - it has dents from saucepan lids and even forks, and scratches from broken glass and crockery. So I would not hugely recommend it.

At last. A thread about flooring. I am obsessed with flooring. Have samples galore in my house.
The problem with wood in a kitchen is wet and humidity. It will expand and warp unless you buy laminate which is a whole new ball game.
Why must you have wood?
