Does anyone have the steam bit on their washing machine? Is it worth the money?

Basically my washing machine has died. I have been looking at machines around £400-£550 as would like larger load size etc. on some of the models there is a steam function. It sounds fabulous and the part about less ironing has almost sold me!!!! But is it a gimic? Has anyone got it and is it useful. Please tell.......TIA

I have used the steam function on mine to refresh winter coats and so on, but it's not something I use daily.

(And I don't iron anyway. Blush )

Sorry, RL intervened. I have an Aqualtis 9kg 1600 spinspeed, and I'm afraid that when I bought it my criteria were primarily the size and the spinspeed, so the steam option was just a nice extra. Think my upper price limit was probably £600 (it was a couple of years ago) so I just used a search engine that gave me a few to compare and contrast.

There weren't all that many, and when I added in A rated I think I had about half a dozen. Once I decided which model I wanted the next mission was where to buy it most cheaply/fastest delivery/removal of old, knackered one.

Which is a long-winded way of saying that I can't comment on whether it's worth the extra money. Blush

There, bet you're glad I came back now, eh? Grin

Thanks old lady. All advice is appreciated. The lg one is the one I am looking at and i thought it looked good so great to hear that you find it good Rachey. Will order this week as desperately needing a washing machine.
