When is everyone taking down their Christmas decorations?

MammaNetta Yes, we will be truly fed up of turkey soon. We had pork, not turkey, this year but some family ended up buying way too much turkey and have off loaded it to us. Its enough to keep us going for weeks!

Seona1973 · 28/12/2011 15:05

I have taken the tree down to make room in the living room but the rest of the stuff (lights in the window and the icycles outside) is still up

usualsuspect · 28/12/2011 15:06

Mine are all down ,they get on my nerves after christmas

CaptainMartinCrieff · 28/12/2011 15:09

Jan 2nd in my house! House always feels empty for about a week after they've gone. Sad

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2011 15:22

I am currently pondering the idea of shoving the decorated (artificial) tree up the loft hatch hole as it is. Saving all the faff next year. Grin

OhYouBadBadReindeer · 28/12/2011 16:40

Jan 2nd here too. I'm going to have a grand cleaning session and get the house ready for a new term.

mammanetta · 28/12/2011 16:57

oh noooo Turkey so you'll be Bridget Jones-ing with turkey curry buffets well into 2012 then :)

GeriManda · 28/12/2011 17:07

There are some miserable sods on this thread Grin My tree cost £45 and has only been up 10 days - no way is it coming down before New Year

teacherwith2kids · 28/12/2011 17:07

Twelfth Night.

But we only decorate on Christmas Eve, so they are up foir less time than in mot households even though we take them down 'late'.

QED · 28/12/2011 17:53

6th January. I like having the tree around the place. And tinsel and fairy lights :-)

SauvignonBlanche · 28/12/2011 17:54

Twelfth night.

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2011 17:55

The schools go back here on the 5th Jan. I bet they won't still have their trees up.

BiltongandBoerewors · 28/12/2011 17:56

Saturday for us as we are away from Sunday for a long while and I don't fancy Christmas decs once we get back.

Clayhead · 28/12/2011 18:02

Already down.

Teaandcakeplease · 28/12/2011 18:21

GeriMiranda - mine's a fake tree. If I had a lovely real tree, I'd probably keep it up as long as possible. I love the smell Envy

WentworthMillerMad · 28/12/2011 18:21

12th night. In my part of Scotland schools didn't break up until 23rd dec and are back 9th january. Hogmanay feels like a really special deal here with lots of parties and visitors. Fun has only just began! !

Tigerbomb · 28/12/2011 18:23

Boxing Day. It goes up 2-3 days before Christmas and comes down immediately after.

Sparklingbrook,

The school I teach in goes back on the 4th. We left the tree up in the hall, and will take it down after the end of school on the 6th.

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2011 19:04

I think that's great teacher. Ours went to a church first school and when we went to pick them up when they broke up for Christmas the tree had already gone. Shock

FrigidHare · 28/12/2011 19:09

We only got ours on Christmas Eve too, so it'll be up till the 6th Jan I reckon.

iamhyacinthbouquet · 28/12/2011 20:48

I'd love to take the blessed things out now, but have been over-ruled by family...
so they're coming down Jan 2nd. Sooner the bettera s far as I'm concerned!

shodatin · 28/12/2011 22:56

I used to miss the decorations and especially the lights when taking them down on 6th Jan, such dark days, but learned from elderly friend to have bowls of hyacinths ready to move into place immediately after.

AnotherMincepie · 29/12/2011 08:34

Twelfth Night here too.

countlessbabychams · 29/12/2011 13:18

Gone! Gone! Gone!
Bloody stuff does my head in even before Christmas.
Now I can clean all the little nooks and crannies and dusty bits from where all that tacky shite the stuff was.
I hate putting decs up and its always me who's left to put them away the second Christmas is over
Ggrrr! (and bah bloody humbug)
