do they have as much freezer space as a normal fridge freezer> I tend to pile stuff in the freezer drawers and am put off knowing an american fridge freezer doesnt have the wire drawers that you can pile up stuff in

for a family with 2 kids what would you recommend?

am not a mad cook or anything!

i was looking at them the other day, and the freezer drawers are reallly narrow. you'd never fit soemtjijng like a big pizza in them for example.

ssd · 27/12/2011 20:46

yes i thought that too

when i've had a peek in anyones the freezers just look likt the have stuf piled in that would fall out, maybe a normal freidge freezers the way too go

We have American (family of 5). But also bought a big freezer for storage! Love the ice/ water on tap, and the fridge size is just right. We're lucky enough to have a utility room for the freezer.

We have one and also have a deep freeze and am considering an under counter fridge as I find it is just to small

maddiemostmerry · 27/12/2011 20:48

We have one, family of six.

We didn't get one with a ice maker/drinks cooler built in as they take up a lot of freezer space. We stand pizzas on their sides. We are happy with ours.

Catsmamma · 27/12/2011 20:49

i have one, i keep the peas/sweetcorn/icecream/butter in it really ..... they are very small and the ice maker takes up at least a quarter of the space.

but we have a massive 6ft+ chest freezer out in the shed for all the other stuff.

Wouldn't bother. I've got a matching pair of fridge and freezer in almost the same space as an American-style unit. Doesn't look as stylish but masses more cubic metres, and if one goes wrong I still have the other.

ssd · 27/12/2011 21:04

no room for a separate freezer here but can see why folk have them

satsuma, what does your firge and freezer look like, can you post a pic, if you don't mind? I like the idea of that but can't imagine how it would look

sorry if you don't want to

We have one, the freezer is huge - and you can fit pizzas in it... There is far more space in there than there was in a 'normal' fridge freezer with drawers, although granted it isn't as spacious as a separate chest freezer.

It's the Panasonic one (think they only do one model). We waste so much less now as we can see and reach everything easily. I would never go back to a 'normal' one!
