Yesterday my DD (9 mo) went investigating my pan cupboard. While I was distracted she pulled the chip pan out and the oil went all over the floor. I quickly grabbed her and moved her out of the way into the over room and when I went back the oil had spread nearly everywhere and was heading towards my pile of laundry. I quickly cleaned it up with the closest thing to hand my (favourite) bath sheet and it had already spread to my OHs fave casual trousers and his dear Barcelona FC slippers. I cleaned everything up of the floor and without thinking about my 3 month old washer I threw everything in it. This morning I have gone back to the washer and everything still smells of oil but more importantly so does my washer.
I've put the clothes in the sink for a rinse in washing up liquid to help break the grease. I've put the washer on a rinse cycle to help clear out the grease at the bottom of the washer but that doesn't seem to be working.
