I've got stack of old ramekins from cheesecakes bought from supermarkets, and I want to use them to freeze some homemade deserts? Or will they break?

I have and they were fine (mini cottage pies for ds3!)

unless they say they are freezable I wouldn't they could shatter. Although no doubt someone will be along soon to say they have and it was fine! Xmas Grin

I have too and they were also fine. They're a very convenient size for toddler portions.

Yes, I was worried they would shatter (and I've just cleaned the freezer!) but I'll trust those who have tried and say it's OK....thanks!

Maybe until you have tested them all you could put them inside a zip lock bag, then if they do shatter, mess is contained?

You can have some of mine! I swear they breed when I'm not looking. Grin

Yeah, frozen, refrigerated and cooked with them. All fine :) hope that helps Smile

Thanks: "frozen lemon flummery" is freezing in ramekins as I type!

I used mine for homemade candles :)

eventually they will probably crack.

a clever idea is to freeze stuff in them, then release it by running warm water over the upside down container, wrap frozen lump in clingfilm, and return it to the freezer (labelled). It will take up less room and you can continue using the container. When you want to eat the thing, unwrap it and it will fit straight back into the ramekin.

I like ramekins.

I use mine to decant shop bought dips and make them look home made for parties Grin
I have ceramic ramekins from pâté for freezing stuff, but glass ones should be fine as long as you let the puds cool before freezing, then defrost thoroughly before cooking, and put them in a cool oven rather than on hot shelves.
