Batch cooking...how much do you cook at once? (I've been shown a 14 litre pan...!)

Now that I have 3 DC's I thought I could cook even more in one go than I do already.

I couldn't visualise how much 14 litres of food would be until I measured my current pan, it's 4 litres, and I can cook up 1 pound of mince, 2 tins of tomatoes and 2 packets of passata and some stock.

With 14 litres I'd only need to cook once every 2 months!!

Does anyone else have a pan this vast? Will the food cook through properly?

Of course the food will cook through properly - it will just take longer.

In my life BC I cooked at a boarding school and would do spag bol for 80 in huge pans - never measured what the content was in litres.

A bigger question - do you have freezer space for a few gallons of chilli at a time?
