Getting wee out of a sofa - can I wash the unwashable cushion pads?

DS1 has just done a massive wee on the sofa that has soaked right through the covers and into the pad that zips over the foam pad. (It's an Ikea Ektorp sofa.)

The pad says it's not washable but I think I might have to.
Does anyone have any advice?

I can't bear the thought of a smelly sofa in the sitting room.

thanks.

I don't know about a sofa, but have salvaged a few mattresses with the following so think it should work for a sofa too, though maybe patch test for colour fast

Soak stain in hydrogen peroxide - buy bottles from chemist

then sprinkle very thoroughly with bicarbonate of soda

leave over night

next day hoover thoroughly

Bicarb draws out the peroxide & with it the wee - recently had to do this for Cat wee on a memory foam mattress Angry - I'm pleased to say it came up like new :)

thank you!

I've washed them now so too late to do anything else but am making a note of that for future incidents (and there will be future incidents Sad).

the covers are washable so colour fastness isn't a problem, and if they wee on a mattress I'm not going to care about the colour as long as it gets rid of the smell. Smile
