Welcome to the new thread!Smile

We are trying to get to grips with the basic housework
(and more on a good day!)Grin

Come along and join us as we try to stay motivated, and make our houses a better place to be.

OP posts:
FuntimeDavies · 12/10/2011 14:30

Hi, can I join please? Well done to those who've got so much done today Smile.

Apart from mine and dh's room (where all the random stuff gets dumped) the house is more or less straight for the first time in a good six months Blush. MIL comes tomorrow, so I've had a mega blitz.

My problem is that I don't keep it up. I'm a SAHM who is never in and there's always something else that we'd all rather be doing Grin.

Motivation and a cleaning routine badly needed!

BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 12/10/2011 14:45

Hi FuntimeDavies yes you can join, I need to get back to it soon.
--Had stopped for a tea break and was procrastinating--
I am trying to get my kitchen sorted, again it seems to be a never ending job .

YouHaveNoPowerOverMe · 12/10/2011 16:50

Good afternoon.

Had the PIL round at 11.30am & they only just left so I've spent the day making tea/coffee and sandwiches whilst keeping the boys out of trouble.

However, the PIL did.....

Cleaned all my downstairs windows, inside & out, back & front including upvc surrounds
Did the same with front & back doors
Filled in the holes in the first bedroom we are decorating
Washed dishes before they left
Took all the bags of grass/weeds hedge trimmings to the tip

( we've just moved in, house is a state, it's not me that's grubby & can't be assed to take care of garden)

So all in all, a pretty good day Grin

My list now is

Make dinner
Wash dinner dishes
Sweep & mop kitchen floor
Hoover lounge.

BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 12/10/2011 18:30

Hi all, have made good progress in my kitchen this afternoon after a slow start.
If I keep this up it will be clear of washing up! Grin Little and often seems to be the trick!

YouHaveNoPowerOverMe · 13/10/2011 10:29

Good morning.

Already been to the shop this morning to top up damn electricity key. (£200 to get it removed even though it was put in because the last owner got in debt, what's that all about?)

Anyway list for today

Wash Dishes
Wait for garden waste bin to be emptied so I can fill it up again with the last pile of dead grass & weeds we pulled up from the garden
Put washing on
Clean bathroom as still haven't got round to it

Think that's it for the minute, will add more later hopefully.

YouHaveNoPowerOverMe · 13/10/2011 10:30

Ps: Well done with kitchen progress BlackCat

YouHaveNoPowerOverMe · 13/10/2011 17:45

Well I failed today!

I got the dished done then went out for coffee & a muffin, took a trip to the local library, signed up at my new local sure start centre and went to the park. Got home about 15mins ago so just about to make dinner!

I'll try again with the housework tomorrow Grin

Arfurnoozingbrain · 14/10/2011 08:54

been a slatternly, slovernly week at home, as work and school stuff completely took over.
Today is my day off, so i am treating myself to half and hour messing around on the pc and then it's Time To Clean....

Aims in order of priority:
Hoover sitting room and dining room, hall, stairs, landing.
declutter front room and hall.
Clean kitchen floor
find half an hour to put away laundry (could wait til tomorrow)
Sort out paperwork for dog (rescue dog recently adopted. needs insurance sorting)

Happy Friday :)

SausageGoulsAndFruitSpooks · 14/10/2011 09:08

Well so far this morning I have accomplished

1x Name Change [hgrin]
2x Breakfasts
2x Nappy Changes
1x getting ds2 down for a nap.

Now I'm gonna make me a bacon sarnie then it's

Wash Breakfast Dishes
Sweep & Mop kitchen floor
Fold & put away yesterday's clean laundry (how do I get so much?)
Hoover living room
Find paperwork for the dc's CTF so I can change the addresses
Phone Sky & tell them what incompetent twats they are.

That should keep me going for a while.

Oh yeah & wash ds1's face from the lip gloss he got hold of and used for his "eyes pwetty mommy" Blush

(formally YouHaveNoPowerOverMe)

BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 15/10/2011 09:57

Morning all, I would have liked a day off today but I think it is almost impossible to get a day off from housework. Even if I went out for the whole day it would still be there when I got back.[hhmm]
To do today:
Procrastinate for a while on MN etc.
Get dressed
Wash up
Go shopping for food.
Do some washing?

neverbeenproudertobewelsh · 15/10/2011 13:52

Today has been declared a day of mourning in our house and therefore no housework will take place Daffodil

Shinyshoes1 · 15/10/2011 16:18

Hi all, sorry I haven't been around, been busy busy busy, but not with housework Blush

I am having a pj day today,

so far I have

Hoovered Blush

That is it. I'm going to muster enough energy to perhaps clean the dining room table, but I feel so unmotivated today and feel like having lazy day.

It's actually not too bad in my house at the moment except for the 6 !!! baskets of washing I have to put away. I will do it tomorrow.

My big job for the week is to wash all winter duvets ready for the winter , put them on their beds and put the summer duvets on their matresses to keep them warm as the cold nights draw in.

Have a good day ladies

BoffinMum · 15/10/2011 23:22

I did:

Food shopping
A bit of tidying
Got more kit car products
More work on kit car
KIT CAR IS NOW RUNNING AND NEARLY READY FOR MOT!

Grin
BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 16/10/2011 09:39

Morning all, I sort of gave myself a day off yesterday.
In the morning I watched tele, then in the afternoon we went for a walk (was nice and sunny here).Grin Then did a bit of washing up in the evening and watched Harry Hill and X Factor.

Nice to "see" you again ShinyshoesSmile

BoffinMum Does anyone help you build your kit car or do you do it alone?
I'm quite impressed!

BoffinMum · 17/10/2011 21:17

DH and two friends put it together, then abandoned it for a decade and a half. I am in charge of resurrecting it bodily, and a mate has fiddled with the engine a bit to get it running again. It's like this one, based on a Triumph Herald chassis. if you're interested in that sort of thing.

BoffinMum · 17/10/2011 21:21

Ps Still got to do:

Wheel arches
Machine polishing bonnet and doors
New veneer on dashboard
Possibly new wooden gear knob and steering wheel
New brake light switch
New hoses

Grin
BlackCatinaWitchesHatonaBroom · 18/10/2011 11:15
