Loads of washing. How many a week? Day?

I've just put on my third wash of the day, and sadly this is pretty normal. But I'm wondering whether or not it is normal compared to other people.

We are a household of 2 adults and 2 small-ish boys. When I have a wash day I do usually about 3 or 4 washes. And this must occur at least 4 or 5 times a week. So between 12 and 20 a week!

I confess that I like to wash towels and sheets once a week (if I remember) and then there's the endless shirts and pants and socks when it's term time. That's 15 shirts a week, 20 pairs of pants and 30 socks. And that's not including the weekend with football kits and such. Or even my clothes!

tothesea if your comment was in relation to mine - I meant that there would be an extra load per week that would be towels or bedding - so approx 3 a week.

If I change the covers on the sofas then that's another 4 loads in itself as they are 2 x 3 seater sofas!

About 10 washes a week, more if we've have people to stay.

I tend to do a load each day-that's for 2 adults and 3 children.

I do an average of one a day (2 adults + 5yo and 2yo) . And I thought that was a lot, mainly as a result of DH doing lots of sport and DIY. However, I am quite slack on washing bedding! Blush

But how in gods name are people doing 20 washes a week!??!! Unless you have 8 kids, I can't understand it!

2 adults, 3 children, one in cloth nappies. 2-3 washes per day. I do the sheets alternate weeks unless the children have an accident. I have a small capacity machine though, which makes a big difference. I used a friend's when mine broke and was Envy at the amount she could get in one load.

upahill your ds gets through 6 large bath towels daily!

Sad but true.

To be honest I don't mind too much because he likes to keep himself clean.
He showers when he gets up before school, when he gets home and then before bed.

At weekends it will be when he gets up, after lunch if he has been working with his dad- which is fair enough, they both need a shower and then before bed. if he goes out in the afternoon and comes home sweaty from BMXing or mountain biking he will shower again.

Sometimes I wonder when he will leave home but alas he is only 15!

Wow, excessive/obsessive washing on here.

1-2 loads a day, usually 2, and one day off a week. Two adults and one toddler with 4 loads a week of washable nappies.

I wash bath towels and sheets fortnightly.

DH and I wear trousers till they're visibly grubby or smelly. I wear tops till they're grubby/smelly, jumpers the same. DS is messy though, and goes through a change of clothes daily.

Washing towels after one use???? Why?

About 3 washes a day. 2 adults and a teen.

Sheets/towels every day.
One or both of darks and whites wash
DP's work clothes (washed separately)

very rarely I have a busy week and don't wash in the evening at all, then I have a mountain at the weekend, which I loathe.

RHP apparently because once you have dried your clean body (or bottom) on them, some people deem that the towel is now "dirty". (not me though!)

The birth of DD multiplied the washing hugely but I could do it as & when. Shortly after going back to work, I realised I needed to be a bit more systematic as otherwise things got a bit chaotic. My system is:

Sunday - 1 x bath towels & 1 x bath mats & hand towels
Wednesday - 1 x DD's bedding plus whichever whites/pales are in the laundry basket & 1 x darks
Saturday - 1 x DP's work shirts plus whichever whites/pales are in the laundry basket & 1 x darks & (on alternate Saturdays) our bedding.

I am looking forward to the day when DD can wear an entire outfit for a whole day - or even more than once!
