arrrgh please help! Spoiled milk carton exploded in the back of my car! How the hell do I clean the carpet?

Hiya - any advice really appreciated!

My grandma had put a carton of milk in the back of my car and me being me I forgot it was there as it had slid under my driving seat!

It has been very hot here and when i came out of work, the carton had exploded - all over the floor.

It is absolutly stinking and makes you gag - i was wondering what the best way to clean it up and get the stench out is?

I think the car will have to be written off

It's impossible - I had coleslaw on my back shelf & the car was condemed

bicarbonate of soda. I use it after the dc's have been sick. I wash the carpet and then sprinkle it all over the area. It seems to work, so I expect it would work for milk too.

I feel for you. I spilt a latte under the driver's seat a few months ago. For days we were blaming the children for doing something unspeakable in the car, and then the truth dawned when the cup rolled out from under the seat

We tried cleaning it ourselves but nothing would get rid of the terrible smell. In the end we had it professionally valetted, which included steam cleaning the carpets etc, and using some sort of enzyme cleaner which apparently eats up the bacteria from the milk. It smelt a bit weird for a few days, and then we realized that the smell had completely disappeared.

It cost about £30 which tbh was money well spent.

I use white vinegar followed by bicarb. Use this to get rid of any nasty smells (damp towels, horrible washing machine , you name it!)
