HELP ME very boring carpet question/ and or should i murder my husband?

Its more complicated than you think take a look at these points

1)I live in a household of cavepersons. 2 teenagers, a husband all very messy
2)and a dog - the dog sheds in summer and she is black.

3)I live in an old house, it is very dark. so i want a lighter carpet.

4)We are all prone to spilling and kicking over drinks. Particularly coffee

5)can't have floorboards becuase the carpet is for the stairs and upstairs bedrooms and we live in the middle house of a row of three and noise travels

what about seagrass? anything ANYTHING YOU suggest will be considered. Have thought of chucking the kids out and burying dh in the garden, but hes a bit fat and i would have to lift flags in the garden to fit him in - there must be an easier way
I am at my wits end. and fed up of looking.

In the past i have bought top quality wilton - but the pattern is too busy/old personesq/publike

A neighbour of mine had seagrass or whatever it is put in her house as she had men with Neanderthal tendencies, she swore by it. Didn't vacuum for days sometimes as it was so forgiving.
If all else fails, consider dismemberment as an alternative to full scale burial.

But seagrass isn't good with spills (& you would never get blood out of it)

If she kills dh first, she can abandon new carpet plans altogether, and move house with the insurance?

I had a jute/wool mix in my old flat. It is ribbed like seagrass rather than fluffy like carpet but a bit softer under foot. You can get it in a range of biscuity colours, and it can be treated so it is quite stain resistant. My carpet didn't get as much abuse as yours will but after 5 years still looked as good as new.

hmmm yes blood is a difficulty. i could kill him outside - i don't have any instruments good for dismemberment - perhaps i could just compost him?

Seagrass is very harsh on the feet and shows up every spillage. It was worth getting rid of the house Neanderthal and having beautifully exfoliated feet, though.

What about lino? There is another thread somewhere about lino/ vinyl for the living room and it muffles sounds.

I can advise strongly against coir (natural fibre type stuff - made from coconut husks or somesuch). It's a bugger to vacuum. Or so DP tells me as I don't even know where the hoover lives. It not only shows the dog hair (a black dog & a brown one) it seems to highlight it. And it stains like a bastard and is difficult to clean.

I only have coir on the stairs and landing. Rest of house is all hard floors. Bastard dog knew exactly where to shit for maximum effect.
