Have you ever had your cooker professionally cleaned. Was it worth it?

Lots of flyers coming though our letterbox for this service at the moment. My
cooker is seriously filthy and I don't have the time nor inclination to clean it properly. Is a professional clean worth it? I've not enquired about the cost so I have no idea.

Just before Christmas every year and sometimes in the summer.

£50 for one of the two small ovens from a range plus hob.

I love my oven cleaner man. Best £50 of the year

krisskross · 19/05/2011 22:45

Hi
we had ours done last year and it was amazing, like a new cooker. it was about £100- we have a double cooker- and he was there for hours- it was gleaming and we are going to do it again soon. we got it done with ovenu (ovenu.co.uk) and i think they have local franchises.

it was mildy embarassing though because he told me after he had never spent so long on a cooker. (we'd only had it about a year at that point- housekeeping not my string point)

I have had my cooker professionally cleaned and it is worth every singly little penny that it costs - I would even say that it is worth foregoing a pair of shoes to pay for it!!

I thought Id add to this as Ive become a oven cleaner convert! I'd never had it done before and always managed to produce a nice enough oven, but we had ours done last year when we moved to our new house and I couldnt believe how good it was! I was worried about all the smells etc and had a little one in the house, so was worried about the caustic aspect and as well the mess and upheavel. I couldn't have been more surprised! A very polite man came and cleaned the oven for £36 all in (I got a 10% discount then as a new home owner), all green products, no smell, very clean and tidy and I could use the oven immediately! I would have had it done again before Christmas, but it was still fine to honest. The Turkey and pigs-in-blankets soon changed that though! and Ive just had it cleaned again and my hob, by the same people and am raving about it again! No more smelly horried oven cleaning for me, thats for sure! I used 'My Oven Cleaner' www.myovencleaner.co.uk They cover Surrey and Middlesex mainly and often have specials and offers on FB if you like them on there. Enough - Im off to cook breakfast on my lovely clean hob!

YES! oh YES, oh YES, oh YES.
Do it.

misspentangle · 12/01/2012 19:13

I had mine done and it was worth every penny of the £55. She did tell me though that the roof of my oven was 'exceptionally bad'. Blush

Sparklingbrook · 12/01/2012 19:16

I was shocked how clean he got it. At one point my oven was in pieces and I was worried he wouldn't get it back together again. he took it all outside to his van to clean it. It was brilliant.

anniewoo · 31/01/2012 21:48

Yes. Brilliant . Wish i could afford it more often!

iseenodust · 31/01/2012 21:52

Yes. First time before Xmas by Ovenu. Definitely use them again.

£48 and worth every penny. I never let it get too bad as I always wipe it over after using but it's worth it just for those hard to reach bits at the back and for him removing every screw and rail.

stargirl1701 · 01/02/2012 17:46

I've had my oven done a number of times. It cost £40 and was well worth it. The company use acid baths for all the shelves/racks and dismantle the door to clean it. Fantastic. I use them twice a year.

thenightsky · 01/02/2012 17:57

seriously tempted after reading they replace missing screws. The bottom drawer on my sags to one side because of missing a bit.

Hulababy · 01/02/2012 18:02

Yes and yes!
Well worth every penny. My oven looked like new when finished.

fluffiphlox · 01/02/2012 19:42

WORTH EVERY PENNY!

Elly31 · 02/02/2012 19:53

cost varies on size of oven and how many pans you want done. We have double oven and it was about £60. One of the most liberating things I have saved up money to get done.

pinkpinkeverywhere · 02/02/2012 20:12

I'm having my oven cleaned for the first time in a couple of weeks but got a Groupon deal so it's only costing £19. I'm in the Midlands so could be worth watching out for the next deal.

DorothyGherkins · 03/02/2012 19:58

I was at a friends house, when her oven cleaning man came. I sat and watched and chatted to him as he worked. I was totally shocked how he took the whole oven apart, door off, inside panels off, every nut bolt and screw. Shelves were soaked and steam cleaned, every single part of it was tended to. I thought, well, it ll never go back together again. But it did, and it looked like a brand new oven. I was extremely jealous. Took about two hours start to finish.

thenightsky · 03/02/2012 23:33

DorothyGherkins wow.. am gonna go for this i reckon.

Macey78 · 05/02/2012 21:32

I had never heard of an oven cleaning service prior to reading this and sounds great. Can anyone recommend a company that cover East London
