Cleaning smells out of waterproof mattress...

Hi - any advice on how to get the smell of toddler vomit out of a standard waterproof mattress - it didn't look like it had soaked through his sheets, but even after wiping the mattress a number of times with anti-bac wipes, the smell still lingers!

Thanks

Hello. Lots of mumsnetters rave on about the bleaching and general stain removing power of sunshine. Probably worth a go for your mattress - put it outside tomorrow (or by the window) and let the sun have a go.
I'd also try putting on old towel on the patch and pouring on dilute milton, and let it sit for 15 mins. maybe the sterilising effect will rid you of sick smell. My little one was once sick on the carpet, and it smelt for a few weeks but eventually time sorted it out. Fingers crossed.

febreeze

Bicarbonate of soda is good for tackling smells - make a damp paste with a little water, rub on and leave for a while.

Thanks everyone - febreze and sunshine have made a bit of a difference - will try the bicarb next I think.
