Spring cleaning chez nevergoogle.

i now have a big wall which i intend to turn into our super organised area.

in my mind it'll work like tom cruise's control panel in that film that i can't remember the name of.

so, what's good.

alternatively just let me know the name of the film.

TIA Smile

A friend moved into new house and inherited a kitchen wall painted with a large flower-shape & pegs glued around the petals for clipping on notes/cards etc. Looks pretty good.

nevergoogle · 03/04/2011 00:50

cool, thanks for the ideas. i'm going to ponder tomorrow.

I just had some shelves built and the carpenter took a massive bit of MDF offcut and stuck thick beading around it to make a frame.

I've bought some magnetic blackboard paint to paint it with.

It was essentially free, apart from the £700 shelves Wink.

I don't like those fabric boards with ribbons. All looks a bit Anthea Turner circa Blue Peter.

I like the cork board thing but all our wine these days seems to have plastic corks or screw top.

Magnetic paint? I've never heard of that but am intrigued. Tell me more please.

You can also get ordinary magnetic paint which inthink is dark grey but you can paint over it with emulsion so it will still work. You could paint a whole wall should you feel the need.

Sorry here

SlightlyB0nkers · 04/04/2011 04:54

That's fantastic! Thanks for the link.

I've learned something new again. :)

Cut a nice shape out of plywood or softwood with a jig saw, sand the edges, cover with quilting fabric. Then cover with your fabric of choice and use ribbons to divide it in sections. You could do it in the shape of a big daisy or the British Flag or a big heart or a cockerel, whatever you fancy really. Find a template or draw the shape you want on paper, transfer to the wood, carefully cut it (does not have to be extremely precise as it gets covered with a thick layer of fabric anyway and then upholster it. Lovely and unique. If you don't have a jigsaw look in yellow pages there will be several places where you can rent tools for the day. Good luck.

sorry to be negative but have you actually tried the magnetic paint, cos we have some blackboard magnetic paint and no matter how many coats we put on nothing was going to stick! would love to find some that worked!

nevergoogle · 05/04/2011 19:14

i like your idea dikkertjedap. will see what i can do.
