Welcome, come away in you?ll have had your Brew. This is the April Fledgling Flyers Thread.

Thanks to WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes who was champion at leading us through March.

We are trying to stick to the Flylady © Website and her baby steps and routines to help keep our houses out of C.H.A.O.S and ready for everyday, maybe the odd visitor or two.

Check her website out but don?t sign up for emails as they are likely to inspire but fill your inbox so full we might not see you till August. Grin

The principles are:

Babysteps (one at a time)
Babysteps and 15 minutes daily decluttering
Babysteps and daily missions.

This month I will be posting the links and leading you down the road to building a routine and keeping your house under control.

It is amazing what you can achieve in a simple babystep,15 minutes a day and a little Wink chat.

MissJ, couldn't ignore your post, that must have been terrifying, sending you a hug to help you cope with the memories.

missjulie · 12/04/2011 14:45

Thank you WKWTTG. It was terrifying. It is something that i have to deal with on a daily basis, it is like lead weights that i carry around all of the time. Just much worse this week. xx

CheerfulYank · 12/04/2011 15:28

Oh how terrible MissJulie .

Just profile stalked you, we like lots of the same things! :)

myhouseWILLbecleanthisyear · 12/04/2011 15:35

missjulie sorry to hear that. Just also profile stalked you, glad to see DD is nearly 1 now :)

myhouseWILLbecleanthisyear · 12/04/2011 15:36

Yey, Its not even half 3 yet and Im finished Grin

  1. start load that it is washing machine, hang it up - done
  2. ironing to do earlier load - done Shock at how early I have done it
  3. bedding washed and dried - done
  4. wipe down sides - done
  5. load washing machine for Wednesday - done
  6. clean bathroom - done
  7. use colour corrector on hair so I can dye it a completely different colour later. - tomorrow

I have also hoovered DS room after I asked him to put his toys away. Still needs clearing properly and tidying better, but it looks a million times better than what it did this morning :)

I have made a decision while Ironing. We often get those clothes bags through our doors. TBH I dont do a lot with them, but now as soon as I get one I am going to take it upstairs and fill it. We all have too many clothes in this house (most of which are too small). I might only get a few clothes in at once, but if I do it every time I get one very soon it will all be gone. Why didnt I think of that sooner.

Might as well get tomorrows list up:

  1. start load that it is washing machine, hang it up or get it in dryer
  2. ironing to do earlier load
  3. take kids to cinema to see Rio
  4. wipe down sides
  5. load washing machine for Thursday
  6. use colour corrector on hair so I can dye it a completely different colour later.
  7. Dye hair a completely different colour
feetheart · 12/04/2011 18:04

missj - sounds very, very scary. I'll hold your hand too.
Have you had any help in dealing with it at all? Sounds like a lot to cope with.

Not sure if it helps but DD's best friend was born 8 weeks early and no-one would EVER know now - typical, lovely, lively, stroppy 8-year old girl :)

Been to explore Hobbycraft today.
There has been no Flying :)

Stillchuckingit · 12/04/2011 18:39

Poor you MissJ Hope you can get some support in rl but sending some from cyberspace x

Well done myhouse you are on a roll!

feetheart sorry dc not playing so well. Shock at no computer etc till 4.30. I really should be more stringent, but how do you get anything done? Ah bit older than mine. sc hope you feel bit better soon.
missjulie so sorry, it must be really difficult to remember how tramatic it was. I hope you get through the next couple of days (((hugs)))
blue well done on list. Must put charity shop on mine too.

Today has been manic here, dc played well this morning before I got up and I was so grateful. Took them off to play session, followed by park and very windy picnic. Home for a bathroom rejig, toys now stored in one box. Snug tidied, dc room tidied, rejig in my bedroom, some declutter stuff stored till I figure out what to do with it. Swept living room and kitchen floor. Dw on wm on, td on. Clothes laid out for tomorrow, bags ready. Dc are driving me bananas at the moment, feel like the worst mum in the world. Smacked ds twice today! Once he was hitting dd really badly. Need to work on my patience levels and taking a step back. Sad. In the hope that it helps new daily reward charts set up, 5 stickers=treat next day. Both dc helped tidy up and got there pjs on without a fuss on the promise of being allowed to run around the garden in there pj for a while before bed. Grin

Anyway to stop me going on anymore, off to find links.

Hugs to missjulie x

Nippon is amazing stuff and we have used that before but DH doesn't want to use it on just a few as he doesn't think it would work. We only seem to see 2 or 3 at a time and i kill 'em then go in kitchen again and there's another 2 or 3 so it's de ja vu Angry i followed one and it seemed to go inside the drawer mechanism so that's wierd, not sure where that leads but more than likely it's a way to their nest ggrr!

nettie we had our kitchen completely gutted and refitted and so now the plaster has dried we can repaint it (it was just magnolia before). I chose a lovely shade to match the tiles (stoney colour) and got it made up at the paint store and it turned out blue which was awful. Our decorater took it back and asked if they could add a bit of brown to it and it looked fine then, but painted on the wall it turned green. After trying lots of other creamy colours I actually grew to like the 'green' which DH nicknamed 'April Fools Green' as it was mixed on that day. It has now been painted on and looks fresh and clean so i'm happy. Wish we could decide on the bathroom as chose a very light green but it was blue when on the wall. Added a touch of yellow in the hope to make it green and it turned out fluorescent green - yuk so not having much luck. We need to paint the utility room which leads from the kitchen but we can't remember the combination of the green/brown mixture so think it may turn into another disaster. Need the bedroom doing and lounge so think we may be in for a long summer of trial and error. We have learnt not to do the mix it way with colour charts etc but buy off the shelf - it's still not 100% though.
We also do star charts here nettie and find they work well and our DD is 6!

CheerfulYank · 13/04/2011 05:45

Got some laundry done and that was about it. Feeling mostly better though and looking forward to starting my routines again tomorrow. Night all! :)

LinzerTorte · 13/04/2011 07:11

Morning all Smile.

Hope you have a more peaceful day today nettie (you are not the worse mum in the world. I have that crown Blush.)
missJ Hope you are doing ok today. These events are very difficult to recover from, especially when you are going flat out trying to care for a baby.

Yesterday was crazy but managed to pull it off (my organisational skills are improving Smile). However, today is not much better:

Work/school
collect Ds from school
return to school for 'workshop' with ds
take ds to beavers
collect dd from friend's
collect ds from beavers

Oh, and some how buy food Hmm.

Why does everything happen on the last week of term??

feetheart · 13/04/2011 08:29

Morning all!

Thanks for great round-up Nettie. DC did get better thanks, just niggling at each other for a while.
I am MEAN MUMMY re TV/computers/etc most of the time though it can be relaxed, usually to suit me Blush, and then they think they are having a special treat :o
Does help that I know they can entertain themselves both individually and together very well.
I also have a stock answer to 'I'm bored' - I will give them 3 ideas of what to do, always including 'tidy your room'. If nothing catches their imagination then they are on their own as I have done my bit!! Benign neglect anyone?

missjulie - hope you have lots of RL support over this week.

Hope poorly people are on the mend and ant invasions are halted?

Been up since 6am (DH has early network meeting on a Weds) but have been productive:

  • Work - get caught up before going away tomorrow - done lots, still need to do bank rec and check out some things with DH
  • Morning routine
  • Hair cut - coming here at 9am Shock
  • Get everything together to pack
  • Sort out cat-feeding
  • Buy cat food just to make sure
  • Plant herbs
  • Some School Assoc stuff
  • Passports, tickets, car hire stuff
  • Pack
  • See tenants to take photos of new bathroom to send to friend (finally!)

Am feeling far too calm which is worrying me slightly Hmm

Better get some breakfast into me and tell DC they can have food now or later but NOT when hairdresser is here!

CobwebCinders · 13/04/2011 09:30

ds still icky

sharing his germs so kindly

grotty house a tad grotty,

am on another go slow

and ds is back in his pjs.

myhouseWILLbecleanthisyear · 13/04/2011 09:46

Just a quick hi from me.

Due to going to the cinema and doing my hair Ive decided to leave the washing load for one day as I wont get time to iron it today. Also as Im about to go out for most of the day it will be sitting in the washing machine all wet for a few hours. One day wont hurt.

  1. start load that it is washing machine, hang it up or get it in dryer - not today
  2. ironing to do earlier load - not today
  3. take kids to cinema to see Rio and for something to eat - leaving in 15 mins
  4. wipe down sides - done
  5. load washing machine for Thursday - done
  6. use colour corrector on hair so I can dye it a completely different colour later. - This afternoon
  7. Dye hair a completely different colour - tonight

Hope you all have a lovely day. :)

Stillchuckingit · 13/04/2011 11:06

Morning lovely fledglings!

Fab round up Nettie and well done on the rejigging! Play, park and picnic does NOT sound like actions of worse mother in world - rather the reverse! Had to laugh at treat of running around garden in pyjamas before bed - reminded me when dd was 3, she was "allowed" 3 high-speed circuits of garden wearing nothing but knickers (which usually ended up on her head for final lap!)

Feetheart am all for benign neglect! Well done on your calm, productive start to the day.

MissJ hope you are feeling OK today

Oh no @ "evolving" paint colours LadyinPink! Bet it looks fab now though ...

Waves to Scatty Linzer CheerfulY Blue and everyone else

Woken up with sore throat, and general swimmy feeling which is a bit of a b*er (a) meant to be going away Thurs to Thurs, then sister and family coming to stay, closely followed by godsons and parents, closely followed by bf and family and (b) wanted to do lots of baking and activities with dd. She's ill as well so she is not bouncing off the walls as normal but even so, she deserves a bit of one on one time. Heigh, ho, hopefully I'll feel better as day goes on!

Stillchuckingit · 13/04/2011 11:08

cobwebsandcinders sorry you are still suffering
Myhouse good luck with colour change!

namechange100 · 13/04/2011 13:16

CONFESSIONS of a nonflyer/fledgling flyer - my last post was Monday am whereby I was sidetracked to playdate at pub (well its not fair on DS otherwise, and still making friends with reception mummies) and I err just forgot all about my list....I am so bad I didnt even update on here.

Yesterday I just got on I did a load of garden stuff including cut very long grass (so long it was cut twice and bagged as errr green waster bin is full of normal rubbish Blush) I squashed slimey green covered bouncy castle and swimming pool (NEVER buy one) and took to tip. I weeded, weeded and weeded (all the time wondering if the neighbours were sneering 'bout time scruffy so and so's' or admiring 'yes that women always seems busy and her beds are quite big')

My garden is capable of hosting a playdate but the house is not, so in the basence of portable loos in the garden the plan for today is:

Breakfast done
W & D washed
Lunch done
Performed valuable family research on internet done

Room 1 - Our room!
Sort washing into baskets done
Clear out stuff for charity done - justy realised will have to get dressed!
Clear out stuff for chairty (textile recycling too worn clothes) done
Remove rubbish done
Change bed
Sort through toiletries
Dust windows and two bedsides done
Clean windows
Hoover floor done
Hoover edges !

Concurrent
Shove laundry through I estimate:
Load 1 in and hung done
Load 2 in and hung
Load 3 in and hung
Load 4 in and hung

I will update in an hour Sad its too much, to top it all off my bum/hips hurt from all my big garden clean up - I shall look out at it when it hurts too much Grin

namechange100 · 13/04/2011 13:20

what would the reaction be if folk turned up and I showed them to the back garden with outdoor toys/picnic and a portaloo - I could keep patio curtain shut to hide mess!

NettieSpaghetti · 13/04/2011 14:15

namechange just for the day shall we swap? My house isn't too bad but garden is pretty shabby?? Grin

Oh nettie I might be tempted but I must say I am having 10 possibly 13 kids over with several parents Shock, yer know the one when you ask would so and so like to comexyz and the mum replies yes but can I bring the other sibling and I say 'oh yes' then afterwards at hope barf at how many kids are coming and worry they wont have a good time due to lack of space - if it rains I twankered on Friday as they will literally have to hang of the lights Shock - I'll just feed themn chocolate and make as much tea/coffee as I can.

BUT then I have my mother coming to stay and I have an assignment to do.
