Has anyone heard of Abaca Organic mattresses?

I bought a memory foam mattress, but it STINKS so I'm sending it back.

I'm tempted to go down the organic route. I'm sick of off-gassing of everything new. Does anyone have experience of organic mattresses in particular Abaca.

I am nervous about buying online, but they have said we can try and swap/ send back if not happy.

We have an Abaca one, decided to get an organic one in a fit of pfb-ness when DD came along. Had got an organic cot mattress then realised she'd be spending a lot of time in our bed so we got a new one too. We got the medium firmness, but tbh it is pretty firm which was ok by us, but we did end up getting one of their wool mattress toppers to soften it a bit. The topper is a great idea (especially with kids) because it gives the rather expensive mattress lots of protection and you can easily air it outside.

The biggest downside we found was that oddly it doesn't have any handles on the side, which makes it very difficult to turn over, which we like to do periodically. It is very heavy. I always meant to email them some feedback about this but never got around to it.

Oh, we got it from John Lewis because they were an official supplier (don't know if they still are). We even travelled up to the Sloane Sq store to try one out - didn't mind doing this as we got a nice day out shopping in town Grin

Did you get one of these for the cot?

I ask as it's not sprung inside, so wonder how comfortable it would be as the baby grows heavier.

I'm really torn. The nearest place to travel to is a long way - John Lewis don't stock them now. I really like the idea of them... I might buy a mattress topper... I wish I had more money, so it wasn't such a dilemma!!!

We got the cot mattress from here. The coir and wool one with the organic cover. So not as 'organic' as the abaca one, but a bit cheaper (and we had a 10% discount). It has lasted well, on DC2 now and still seems perfectly comfortable. The cover washes well and I rotate the mattress each way every time I change it. In fact we liked it so much we also got one for DDs toddler bed when she moved up!
