Best hoover for large floor areas - carpet and hard floors

Moving to a new house and its got about twice the floor area of my current house and I just don't think my little cylinder Dyson will be up to the job. Do I get an upright to make my job easier? I wonder if an upright would be better for my back and quicker. Any ideas?

We are putting some hardwood floors in place of the carpet in some the area. I dislike my Dyson as I don't think it picks up well - will a Miele be better?

i have big rooms and alot of rooms and a mixture of pamment tiles, limestone tiles and wood floors with the occasional carpet and rugs. i have a miele and its fantastic. i have found that uprights just dont clean as well on hard floors and the miele just glides along behind me.

Fairly small house here but mixture of carpet, wood floors, rugs and tiles. You can't beat Henry in my opinion, especially for the price.

It has a different brush setting for hard floors and carpet floors and a really long tube so you don't strain your back.

Another vote for the miele.I had one and used it for 8 house renovations.I gave it to my builder as it still worked perfectly but was so scratched I fancied a new one.He still has it 3 yrs on and uses it in his workshop every day.
