omg dont do it unless you are really sure! I washed DP car mats on cold in our old washer and everything had black marks on for 2 weeks :o thing something came off the rubber onto the seal of the washer or something and transfered onto clothes. My advice would be if you do then run washer on hot with some boi powder in after with no clothes in to give it a good clean!

I hope you didn't do this, or if you did, you didn't leave them in for the spin cycle. They would in all likelihood unbalance the drum, and damage the bearings. You'll know about it in a few weeks or months time when it starts making loud strange noises.

You would be better off washing them in the dishwasher.

I put mine in the bath overnight with bio washing powder and it got all the grot off. You might want to wait till warmer weather though because they really need to be line dried.

BikeRunSki · 05/02/2011 21:02

Could you try getting them dry cleaned?

Attenborough · 05/02/2011 21:32

You can buy a whole new set for £8 from Morrisons - I'd imagine that's much cheaper than dry cleaning.

They're so thin- you could probably hose them down on a dry day and flop them over the line and they'll be dry in a couple of hours.

vanimal · 05/02/2011 21:46

I did wash one in the washing machine along with the dcs car seat covers and they were fine.

But the rest need washing too, I'll probably ditch them and go to Morrisons!

Thanks for the cautionary words!

Depends on what stuff they are made off like you can't just wash your leather car mats in washing machine or even if they are made of rexine. However the carpet stuff is washable in machine but it will decrease their long lasting capability.

I've put mine in the machine on a quick 30deg wash they came out just fine
