My once white fluffy towels are now manky and grey. Can I bleach them?

And if so, how? Or is there something I can put in the wash with them to restore them to their former glory? They are really quite a dark grey now Blush

If they're cotton, then yes, you should be able to chuck them in a bucket with some bleach diluted with water. The stitching thread might go slightly yellow if it's not pure cotton, but IME shouldn't be a problem.

You need to boil wash them with bio washing powder with optical brighteners (eg Daz, Ariel) plus you can buy sachets of whitening detergent.

Fantastic, thanks. Will try B then A. At the moment every time I pull them out of the machine they disappoint me.

NB - some of them have a green motif on one end - bad idea to bleach those ones?

Ah yes, the green bit will go a funny colour.
