Bath mats that don't go mouldy or how to keep mould free?

Can anyone recommend a non-slip rubber bath mat that doesn't go mouldy, or alternatively effective ways of keeping them mould free please?

I have had one for several month, always rinse it with the shower after use and hang over bath to dry but it's got an incredible amount of mould on it and no amount of scrubbing with cillit bang is getting rid! Have also tried washing it in the machine but stil to no avail.

God I hated the rubber bath mats we had. I had the same problem as you, can't find a decent anti mould one and can't get the mould off any of the mats we tried. And we tried a lot of mats Xmas Sad.

Given up now.

Marking place as I've just thrown away the disgusting brown mouldy piece of rubber that used to be a nice clean white bathmat.

Hope somebody has an answer!

Oh Rioja don't tell me such a thing doesn't exist :(

Tried that southeast, soaked in bleach and also in cillit bang mould remover plus scrubbed with a scourer and no luck!

So is there an alternative to these scuzzy rubber bath mats?!!

This is the holy grail of bathmats it goes little bit mouldy very slowly, but it machine washable!

I put mine in the washing machine with biological washing powder. But they all seem to go mouldy over time. I just buy a new one every six months.

What about drying it with a towel after use? then no moisture to attract mould? just a though as done use them.

It's the areas under the suction cups that are the problem Xmas Sad. Drying the top with a towel is easy but who has the time to dry all the suction cups Xmas Shock!!!!

Rioja exactly! I try and scrub round them with the scourer and it's so tedious!

No need for any of that with the Jojo bathmat ladies. Just hand it up to air dry.

I can't remember ours at home when we kids ever going mouldy either.

The one I've got now is from Boots and it's just horrible!

It's really sad, but I'm actually EXCITED about my JoJo bath mat Blush

I've got a jelly bath mat from john lewis which doesn't have those crevices around the suction thingies.
I just throw it into the wash together with the floor mats every two weeks or so.

I've got one of those jelly type mats as well I have had it for years now and it is still fine. I wash it regularly and then go round any remaining mouldy bits with a toothbrush and bleach and then wash again. The first wash seems to loosen the mould so anything left scrubs off easily.

I got it from Poundstretcher for something like £3.

I got a primark bath mat just like the JoJo one linked. I think it was less than £5. It hasn't gone mouldy yet and we have had it a couple of years. I just give it wipe or rinse with the shower now and again.

I squirt ours with that HG grout spray from lakeland- it works a treat.

I have 2 shower mats from wilkinson £3 each, they never go mouldy and I wash them in the machine about once a month.

Having tried many mats, I took a nurse's advice and use a simple towel instead.

I can highly recommend bath and shower mats from www.fleximatting.co.uk - they are great. They have suction pads as well as being made of an anti-slip material PLUS an anti-bacterial coating to prevent the build up of mould. What's more you can pop them in the washing machine and just hang them over the bath to dry in no-time. They also do multi purpose non slip matting for use on hard surfaces - can be cut to any length for use on wood or tiled floors etc :-)

I know this is an old thread - but just wanted to chime in with my thanks for both the Jojo mat and the fleximatting recommendations. Have opted to add the jojo mat to an existing order I am making - looking forward to receiving it!

Oooh yes, I got the jojo mat after reading this & it's been great, a lovely mat with no sign of mould Grin

One question though, how do you machine wash it? Do you just stick it on a normal 40deg wash? With normal detergent? I've washed mine a couple of times, but it's got some marks on - perhaps it's limescale? I haven't been arsed had the opportunity to examine it closely yet

I know this is an old post but I have had the same conversation 3 times this week! You can get non slip bath stickers which are just little white circles with a bit of grip that you just stick to the bottom of the bath or shower. Easy to keep clean, just wipe with a cloth occasionally. We've had ours about 4 years, still going, no mould! Grin
