That's quite a list, Temp, good luck. Go get em girl!

Merryhohohomammoth · 23/12/2010 08:52

Got to go into town today, at least the road is clear. ANON and JKS good luck with the Waitrose snatch and grab. At tesco 2 days ago, I reached out for a pot of cream and it was literally swiped by another woman with my fingers inches away. Its only a 2 day holiday FGS.
Lets all make more effort to be more slatternly next year Xmas Grin
Now, shall I panic or not.

AnonEnormousStuffedBird · 23/12/2010 08:58

Panic ye not, Merry/Mini.
I panicked last week and it got me nowhere at all. Xmas Smile

Now, people may turn up this morning.

I really must get showered and dressed!

Mince pies (slatternly/slovenly style) - shortcrust, sweet dessert or puff? Apols, I know it is utterly crap, but we are using pre made. Have all in the freezer but not sure which will give me the best results....???

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 23/12/2010 09:04

Haha, i saw that too. Think it is because we have huge lists - what they don't realise is writing the list is just procrastination! Xmas Grin
Lots to do, DS was napping so have had breakfast and put washload on, but is now stirring so need to get a move on.

I said to DH this morning "We must do STUFF this evening" his reply? "What stuff?" Me "Look around, what could possibly need doing?" Him "Oh, tidy up a bit?" Xmas Hmm Xmas Grin

DONE
Get up
Get dressed
Breakfast
Take dirty washing downstairs
Washload on

TO DO
Get dcs dressed
Go to town and waitrose
Dry washing
Another load on
Jacket potatoes in oven for lunch
Have lunch

Put lamp up in sitting room
Fill basket with nappies/wipes etc rather than having bags of nappies everywhere Xmas Confused

Take DD's toys upstairs to her room

That will do for now...

Temp - I hope some of your gusto rubs off on me!!!! I have DS and DD slowly dismantling the house around me Xmas Hmm. They have turned the living room into a cinema/festival/party zone with cushions, blankets, teddies etc. It's rather sweet actually, now they are handing out "popcorn" and "drinks".

MIL has taken DDog for a walk (yey) AND has offered to have the DC whilst I do my Waitrose dash... certainly would make the whole experience a lot easier, but would mean they don't see the lights (mind you, they live next door to the village Christmas Tree and we have plenty of lights of our own, so perhaps, they will be fine without the lights!)

Mince Pies??? what kind of pastry??? Urgent help needed!! Puff/Sweet Dessert/Shortcrust?

temporaryslattern · 23/12/2010 10:31

Anon - Mince Pies = shortcrust, sweet ot not doesn't really matter IMHO. I'd love some mice pies, can't get mincemeat over here and I'm shit at pastry making...

DC are trashing each room as we go. No change there and no hope of stopping them . My aim is just to get things cleaner so I need to tidy and then clean before they've spread toys all over again. Easier said than done, hence the frenzy.

Just having breakfast and makig 4th coffee. At 11:30 (here), maybe I should call it an early lunch Grin

For some reason I always find this thread so motivational, thanks again!

AnonEnormousStuffedBird · 23/12/2010 10:43

Where are you temp? Europe it sounds like?

I'll take your gin, and raise you a dry sherry? Damn, it really is too early, isn't it? And I need to be able to drive later. Let's save it til the sun is over the yardarm, THEN let the drinking commence.

Thanks on the pastry. Will just go for it...

We are all dressed!

Morning all :)

Now I have a weepy eye on the side where my sinuses are hurting, so I can't see properly. Great when I need to drive later!!
Incredibly slow progress this morning, grandma has only been awake half an hour and is still in bed with her cup of tea! DH has to leave for a meeting in less than 2 hours, and by then I need to have packed enough stuff for him to fill the roofbox - I can't even reach it myself, never mind when there are inches of snow on the ground. At this rate I am going to be ringing my Dad and getting him to come up here and help me Xmas Hmm

Welcome temp Xmas Grin

TO DO
Finish packing DS' clothes
Pack up remaining presents
Have a shower and get properly dressed
Finish ironing
Pack my clothes
DH to pack his own stuff
DH to pack the wine and champagne we are taking
FIND DS STOCKING!!
Load car as far as possible
Remember cups/bibs etc for DS
Write cards for neighbours for DH to deliver later
Lunch
Clear up
Pack laptop/phone charger etc
Leave a note for DH to wash the nappies this evening
Clear out fridge

OMG that is a lot

Hello I know its getting a bit late in the day but could I join you?
I have a lot to do and sitting by the fire and panicking albeit panicking in the warm.
I'm more stressed at how DP will cope in Sainsburys tonight.
Until he returns and hopefully minus a meltdown in the milk aisle. I probably should of done:
Hoovered the lounge, hall and kitchen
Done the washing up
Put washing away
Clean high chair cover
Tidy kitchen table
Tidy coffee table
I would like a bath but this is DS dependent.

I'm struggling not to give DS his milk in bed and we could have a nap

AnonEnormousStuffedBird · 23/12/2010 12:08

Hello Pipplin. Come on in, it's friendly and warm (dodgy heating/oil supplies permitting!) and I had a panic last week, am currently a tad stressed about getting to Waitrose/getting parked/collecting my order. But somehow IT WILL HAPPEN. And by tonight, we will be here with everything we need for the coming days...

JKS - nice bath with DS, how lovely. I didn't hear DH get up this morning, out for the count. Then was vaguely aware of shuffling/wriggling (which DH does!) so did not think anything of it. Just as was about to doze again, realised it was DS moving in for a snuggle and DH was already up!!! Oooooo, heaven heaven heaven. He is such a cuddle monster, even now still at 6yo. Suspect it won't last forever..

JKS our butcher is very busy, massive queue outside, as it is tiny shop, but they were doling out mulled wine, mince pies and had handbell ringers for entertainment. I couldn't help wondering about their organisation though, most stuff was preordered.
