Hello Smile

Surely we could do our own Slatterns Guide to Christmas? Xmas Grin

How are you all?

We all have flu Xmas Sad well, i say have, mostly over i think. DD got the high temp and shivers last night but is quite happily munching away through a pot of crunchy cornflakes and raisins, so perhaps has fought it better?

Anyway, supposed to be going to DH's clients christmas party this evening. I don't think i should go, he has to, and says he really needs me to go. It is only 2 streets away, but will drive, as one is a long avenue. The baby sitter is my friend who has 2dcs of her own so very capable, and we have been in contact last week and friday so has already been in contact with the bug. But am i being a bad mum to go?

Anyway, today's list;

DONE
Everyone awake
DH to work
DD, DS and myself spend the morning watching DVD's in bed
DD breakfast i bed
Hoover up half chewed crunchy nut cornflakes from DH's side of the bed Xmas Grin

TO DO
Bath children
Wash my hair and do nails in case i go out (saves a made rush and looking like crap)
Strip our bed
Wash DD's sheets
Wash our sheets
Tidy whole house - extra list
Do horses and get horse food
See how dc are
Express some milk
Get DD fed and ready for bed
Get DS ready for bed
Babysitter round and go out? Confused

Hello. Sorry the link didn't work. Shame. Never mind. Yes, let's do our own!

My house is an utter tip right now, ugh. Needs a serious tidy up, so that is my very next job!

Alice - sorry to hear all poorly. DS is teetering - just beside himself with tiredness at the moment. No specific ailments as such, but I just have that sense that he is going to nosedive completely very shortly... end of term cannot come soon enough.

British Gas coming AGAIN today. Guy just phoned, so at least I know he is in fact, on his way. Xmas Hmm

And agree, absolutely not a bad mum! Go out, they will be find and you are very close by....

Merry - you bet! Fingers drumming on the door frame as I wait... when he phoned to say "I'm on my way" I said "I look forward to seeing you" which was genuine, as I was looking forward to seeing him.. but he laughed on the phone! Ha ha ha.

List unchanged, except approximately half way through a slightly rushed tidy up. GOD I hate clutter!

Hey ho.

1 hour later of house tidying. Fed up as I can't cross anything off. Wish I had done as much as Sparkling...

AliBellandthe40jingles · 14/12/2010 13:12

Hi everyone. GTT results are not good, I have to go and see a specialist midwife on Thursday. I am so gutted and upset, just can't stop crying which I know is ridiculous but on top of this horrid cold it has sunk me completely and I'm a weepy mess. :(
DH is working at home today, thank goodness.

Back with a list later :)

JustKeepSparkling · 14/12/2010 13:39

Oh Ali :(
Right what could it mean?
if you have GD you can control it with diet, i have a close friend with 3DC and she had it with all 3, controlled it with diet & had home births and the babies weren't gigantic (not tiny either admittedly).

I know how much i dreaded hearing that i'd got it with DS1 (i hadn't, didn't have it again with DS2 so refused the test this time) but really it's only a few months of no chocolate Grin actually that would depress me sorry!!

you are 5 months now right? so 4 months of diet hell just when you should be able to pig out, then look forward to piling on baby weight after the event! That's what friend did, which made us all laugh :)

Worst case is needing jabs right? but again only for a few months i think?

Will have to go and google it to find out more.

AliBellandthe40jingles · 14/12/2010 14:33

Thank JKS :) I have got a grip a bit and phoned the clinic back to get them to tell me the actual readings, and my fasting sugar level was completely normal so that is a good thing.
Apparently they will re-do my bloods on Thursday, so I guess I have to wait and see what that says and then go from there.
My worry is really my longer term risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, and there is increased risk for the baby that they will develop either Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. So yes, hopefully the effects etc will only be short term, but it's hard not to imagine the worst case scenario!

Not really doing a list today, feeling too crap. Have had a good tidy upstairs and I will put the hoover round once DS wakes up from his nap. Think I'm going to go to bed and have a nap, am so so tired.

Alice - if you feel you want to go out then do, the DCs will be fine and you won't be far away. However if you are poorly then I wouldn't go because you need your energy to look after DD and DS tomorrow.

Mini - hope your clip frames have come!

Anon - REALLY hope that BG have arrived and actually fixed the problem this time!!

Wasting - that is amazing! Xmas Smile

Ali - well done & good idea on the nap! Xmas Envy

Alice - agree with others Xmas Smile

Grr, i am so fed up with the fridge repair company/man.
He didn't ring the half hour before he was due to come, despite them telling that he would. (didn't matter i happened to be in but still).
He didn't know anything about being meant to ring me beforehand.
He then wanted the door emptied (could've asked before i would have had it ready).
Then seemed bemused by the new door seal being packed in a box.
Then complained to me that the heater thingie he had wouldn't unbend the seal so has done a crap job of it.
Then pulled fridge out to fix valve on water dispenser & broke the bit of pipe where you can turn off the water supply.
Doesn't carry that bit apparently...
Water off just as DS2 does a pooey nappy so i can't wash my hands, argh.
Announces i will have to call a plumber out to replace bit of pipe.
I had to leave then for school run (another heap of stress as every main road has horrid roadworks on) and let him let himself out.

So haven't paid anything, yet. will have another look at seal in a mo, and call my friendly plumber/boiler man for help.
Just not on though i feel...

Wasting that is beautiful, well done you, love your Christmas name too, forgot to mention it

Alice go and enjoy yourself, as everyone else said you will be back before you know it, when BIL got married a couple of years ago dd wasn't well I left her with my friend who I knew would look after her, the next day she had scarlet fever, but there was nothing I could have done with her that my friend didn't do the night before iyswim

Anyway off to get dinner on & take dd1 to dancing

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 14/12/2010 16:14

Wasting - you clever thing!

Ali - i'm sure it will all be ok

DD is poorly, DS is poorly, but i have managed to straighten my hair and do horses while DH came home for a extended lunch. He has done a fab job of tidying up too. Going to carry on as if we are going, but can cancel at the last minute.
