December's Fledgling Flyers: Christmas time, swish and swipe and wine, flyers sing to the fat fairy rhyme.

Welcome to the December Fledgling Flying thread.

From the 1st of the month we shall be decluttering and taming the chaos using baby steps, missions and zones. A great big thank you to DEM/DID who looked after us last month and did a fantabulous job

We are not strict followers of the fat fairy and take some of the babysteps wearing shoes indoors with a pinch of salt. Also advise against signing up for the fairy's emails.

All are welcome, jump on board for one of our three methods of chaos attack:

  1. Baby steps
  2. Baby steps and 15mins decluttering in current zone
  3. Re-inforce the baby steps and daily mission

This month the fat fairy is gearing up for the feastive period. So I shall also post the christmas mission for those who wish are brave enough to look.

In here the motto is:

*"No perfection! Do what you can, but be realistic about what you can do."

Happy flying.

loosinas · 09/12/2010 12:08

have done a bit of panic clearing as landlord on way over ..... oh my gosh why do i do this to myself :(

feetheart · 09/12/2010 12:26

Very odd day so far but lots done:

  • Up at stupid o'clock and did a few emails and some work (woke up thinking about being behind with work so got up and did a bit which made me feel better!)
  • Morning routine done properly for first time in ages including sweeping kitchen floor
  • Big toys put in car to take to shop
  • Tried to go shopping but car wouldn't start so feel like I have few 'free' hours to catch up on other things
  • Chatted to friend who came to pick up keyboard
  • Part of Mission from earlier in week
  • Sorted 'stuff' beside microwave and chucked most of it
  • Cleaned microwave
  • Rung tea towel company (who are great and I would recommend if you are fund-raising) to sort out a few things
  • Sorted out things for MN Santa present

Having a break now to catch up here and plan how I can use rest of time usefully - choice is work, Christmas letter, Mission or two, sort out paperwork or read my book. Know what I would like to do but doing some Flying would be better in the long term Xmas Hmm

Got an hour left before need to go to school to try and sell more tea towels.
Lunch first I think Xmas Smile

oh I'm v. late Shock

mumtoblaire · 09/12/2010 15:48

Ahhh the snow here has put everything to a standstill again.

My car is stuck at work, not that you can get anywhere!

We live in central Scotland and it's still chaos here.

Schools closed again. That's two weeks now that the school has only been open on the Monday.

DD2 been in a terrible mood today. Just got her off to sleep now.

Managed so far;

3 of us, up/dressed/fed
Beds made/blinds up/windows opened
Kitchen tidied/dishes washed & dried/floor brushed & mopped
One load of washing done and over airer
Lunch done for DD1 and me
Dishes done & away

Housebound as murder trying to push pram through slushy snow so no idea what I can make for dinner. Was shopping day Tuesday but that never happened.

Any ideas what I can make with some white rice, baked beans, cheddar cheese and wraps?Xmas Blush

PlentyOfParsnips · 09/12/2010 16:03

Hello all - wow, lots of flying going on, I feel quite exhausted reading some of your lists. I went AWOL yesterday - got the bare minimum done but just felt really overwhelmed by the tedium of it all so spent most of the day reading a book Xmas Blush.

Today I was supposed to be going christmas shopping with posh friend in the west end but DS is off sick with a flu thing so never got to go Xmas Angry. And I have thrush Xmas Angry. And a verucca Xmas Angry Xmas Angry.

hair up properly done
wash up done
shine sink done
wipe and sweep kitchen done
hang washing done
next lot of laundry in
cooking with DD - cheese and onion pasties with bought puff pastry
clean cooker [shudder]
catch up on missed baby steps
ignore christmas done

Deck, you've done loads! Hope you're not overdoing it. Special congrats on getting your rug washed. 'wash rug' has been like an old friend on your lists - I'll sort of miss seeing it there Xmas Grin

LinzerChristkindlmarkt · 09/12/2010 16:48

Just deleted a long rant about the amount of toys we have in our cellar and the fact that we really don't need a second playroom. I'm so fed up but DH and I have reached an impasse - he doesn't think we have too many toys, it's just that I don't supervise the DC enough; I think they should be able to play unsupervised and can't supervise them all at the same time when they have friends over anyway.

Parsnips Oh dear, it's not your day is it? Hope you manage your shopping trip another time.

mumtoblaire Sorry to hear about the chaos the snow is causing; I think I would go mad if I had to keep the DC at home for more than a day or so.

swan Have a lovely evening. Xmas Smile

Toffee Oops!

Deck Well done on getting through so much of your list.

Am in two minds about whether to rescue the cellar before DH gets home; I suspect that leaving it as it is isn't going to make him realise that I was right all along. Xmas Wink

Dartsonwednesdays · 09/12/2010 17:10

Ho hum, long time no post!

Finally, Finally got all the fuss and hassle sorted out, and can now breathe easy. Parents are winging their way Stateswards as I type! Things have not been helped by the fact that Mum's brother died at the week-end, and for a moment Mum was wavering on cancelling the trip. I persuaded her not to, basically because the cicumstances for the trip would never come around again and she'll regret it.

I have also been up to my eyeballs with overtime at work, as there's a lot of IT stuff to do to avoind losing data etc before a planned upgrade to our system. And of course, I'm the "office IT expert" who's never had any training Hmm.

Routines went out the window and I barely kept pace with enough housework to keep us decent Smile.

So tomorrow I'm hoping to re-start flying again, though I do have to say that thanks to being on the threads previously, it won't seem half as bad to begin again.

Hi to everyone, I promise to catch up with your latest names very soon. and as for Darts, well, you win some, lose some! Or at least, I did Grin

DeckTheIceWithDragonsAndHolly · 09/12/2010 20:13

I have come to terms with the metal now in place in DD2s face. I could even say that I actually quite like it, but I just wish she had warned me beforehand!! Still not had a word from DH about it, so I assume he has not come round as quickly as me! Hmm
