December's Fledgling Flyers: Christmas time, swish and swipe and wine, flyers sing to the fat fairy rhyme.

Welcome to the December Fledgling Flying thread.

From the 1st of the month we shall be decluttering and taming the chaos using baby steps, missions and zones. A great big thank you to DEM/DID who looked after us last month and did a fantabulous job

We are not strict followers of the fat fairy and take some of the babysteps wearing shoes indoors with a pinch of salt. Also advise against signing up for the fairy's emails.

All are welcome, jump on board for one of our three methods of chaos attack:

  1. Baby steps
  2. Baby steps and 15mins decluttering in current zone
  3. Re-inforce the baby steps and daily mission

This month the fat fairy is gearing up for the feastive period. So I shall also post the christmas mission for those who wish are brave enough to look.

In here the motto is:

*"No perfection! Do what you can, but be realistic about what you can do."

Happy flying.

As before I will usually post links the evening before.

Today's babystep is the all important shining of the sink.

The mission is here.

The Christmas mission is here (I think...fingers crossed)

Have a good day everyone. If I don't emerge tomorrow it's because I am buried in the snow.

I'm first on the Christmas thread! Whoopee! Grin

MiniMarmite · 30/11/2010 19:44

Marking my place in the hope that I might fly rather than flap ineffectually!

LinzerTorte · 30/11/2010 19:50

Just marking my spot, as I probably won't be able to do any serious flying until next week. My challenge for the first week of the new month is to keep my routines going and keep sane while I'm ridiculously busy with work.

DeckTheIceWithDragonsAndHolly · 30/11/2010 20:25

Marking my spot. My aim for December is to get the house tamed enough to have christmas. unfortunatly due to circumstances christmas starts in this house on the 11th with a christmas party type thing.

counts the days, looks at the state of the house, surveys the to do list

list for tomo:

Finish the washing
training
bathroom
landing
hall
bag of shoes to charity shop
panic
sleep

but not necessarily in that order.

MrsDinky · 30/11/2010 20:43

Marking spot.

optimisticmumma · 30/11/2010 20:58

Marking my spot too - is it really December??

feetheart · 30/11/2010 21:15

Marking place then off to fill advent calendars :)

pushmepullyou · 30/11/2010 23:23

Marking my place too Smile. Can't believe DD is 2 tomorrow Shock. Where has the time gone? At least I am not in labour this year - the hospital is a 45 min drive away at the best of times and I am completely snowed in!

Ihatecobwebs · 30/11/2010 23:30

Evening ladies

Just rushing through. Will be back on track tomorrow I hope - am now off the sick list Smile

Advent wallhanging is up, winter wallhanging up, winter cushion covers on, advent candle primed for action - so we're all ready for Christmas here Hmm Wink

NettiesElfnPie · 30/11/2010 23:31

DeckTheIceWithDragonsAndHolly · 30/11/2010 23:49

when santa got stuck up the chimney, he began to shout, the girls and boys wont get any toys if you dont get me out. My suit is black, there's soot in my sack, my nose it tickling too. When santa got stuck up the chimney, Achoo achoo achoo.

PositiveAttitude · 01/12/2010 03:44

Marking my spot on here.

Waves to everyone. Tumour was benign, which is brilliant Grin, so no more treatment needed. Still a LOooooooooong way from being back to normal though, so I may be a little sporadic and certainly only babysteps.
Yesterday was the first day for 5 weeks that I had actually cooked the tea (well, I bunged a load of stuff in the slowcooker at about 10am), had the energy to dish up for everyone AND eat! - Then had to sit down for 2 hours to recuperate!

Anyway, my plan is to set myself a goal each day and build up to normality. Today (yes, well it is a bit early yet, so I will be going back to bed) I plan on going out of the house for the second time since leaving hospital. A friend is coming to pick me up and we will go to a coffee shop. (snow permitting).

My lists could be embarrassingly pathetic for a while!! Blush

LinzerChristkindlmarkt · 01/12/2010 04:59

Nick, is that you? Grin

Once again, I didn't make it to bed much before midnight - but I get to work for an hour longer this morning, as it's the one day when DD2 has school until 12.45 and the English lesson has been cancelled. I now need to translate 7 pages a day (having done 20 over the past two days), which seems much more manageable.

Am going to aim to get as much as possible of my morning routine done today... will be back later!

LinzerChristkindlmarkt · 01/12/2010 05:01

That's fantastic news, PA - hope you have a lovely time with your friend today. Smile

pushmepullyou · 01/12/2010 05:40

Today
-Morning routine

-Evening routine

I will do both of the missions tomorrow hopefully along with some wrapping. Hope everyone has a nice day, is it still snowing anywhere?

insanemumma · 01/12/2010 08:10

Hi ladies. Can I join you?

I was intending to be all ready for Christmas with all pressies bought and wrapped and cards written by 1st December.Needless to say I'm nowhere near and my house could do with a major declutter and deep clean between now and the big day.

I have tried flylady before and find the basic routines really help but I just really struggle to keep u with the emails.

Hopefully by posting on here and with a bit of help from you lovely ladies I will make it to Christmas without having a nervous breakdown. My fingers are well and truly crossed Hmm

DeckTheIceWithDragonsAndHolly · 01/12/2010 08:13

First piece of advice on this thread is to ditch the emails. Think you can manage that insanemumma? Grin consider it essential decluttering Wink

PlentyOfParsnips · 01/12/2010 08:17

Hi all, I've been lurking on one of the November threads, trying to do the baby steps and work my way through a daily list of chores with some success but it all falls apart if there's anything non-routine happening. Yesterday I got no housework done except for cooking as I was doing the fucking bastard advert calendars for the DCs ... so, new month, new start and I'll be using this thread as motivation :)

So, today's list:

pin up hair properly
clear front steps
hang washing (shirts)
new load of washing in (sheets and towels)
breakfast
washing up
shine sink Angry
wipe and sweep kitchen
HAND CREAM!

then later on:

cat tray
5 min rescue - living room
hoover hallway, stairs, landing
wipe down front door (can't get near dining room walls and window as there is 3' deep of scary junk round all the edges of the room)
HAND CREAM!

Where are my shoes?
lined up neatly in the hallway with everybody else's Grin

What's for dinner?
cauliflower cheese and chips

DCs both have a snow day today and DP has come down with the inevitable effects of going to the pub three days in a row man-flu Hmm. DS is doing Lord of the Flies so I might dig out the video this afternoon and we can all settle down with a nice fire and some popcorn.

DeckTheIceWithDragonsAndHolly · 01/12/2010 08:32

Right ds' school website hasnt been updated so it looks like i will have ds home, plus the roads are interesting and i am not sure i want to be digging my car out. I am also suffering for training yesterday, at some point i am going to have to admit i am ill and just rest, however in the mean time think i am going to have to review my list for today:

training snow
bathroom - bribe ds to do bath and sink
landing
hall
bag of shoes to charity shop garage for temp storage til can get out with it.
panic x6
Laundry - finish washing, finish folding, finish ironing, all away
get ds to finish writing his christmas cards, start making decorations, finish tidying his bedroom.
Panic some more
Taming discovering kitchen and kitchen sink
sleep Hmm

right as i am still in pj despite having been out to put the bins out having discovered that it was forgotten last night. I think i am going to grab a shower, get up and have a very very very large coffee.
