Xmas tree + crawler - what to do?

DS will be 9mo at start of December, and is crawling, pulling himself up etc. What on earth do you do about a Xmas tree? We can't not have one - it's his first Xmas!

I'm currently worrying about our DS (19mo and into EVERYTHING) wrecking my parent's tree when we go to visit them at Christmas...

He's a complete destroyer of anything remotely shiny/sparkly/dangly Grin

Can see a lot of "NO! DON'T TOUCH THE TREE" happening in a shouty voice...

Ours goes in front of some shelves, we have put a tiny hook on the front of the top shelf, tie the top of the tree across to the hook with a bit of string, also buy one which has soft rather thsn sharp needles
