Bidet - bathroom luxury or waste of space?

We're re-doing our top bathroom.

It's small. I'm thinking we might have just a bath, sink and bidet NOT a lavatory.

We already have two other loos (one in the shower room in the middle of the house and one downstairs) and, as a mum of three boys, I could do with one less loo to clean.

However I'm in two minds. On one hand it would be luxurious to have a way of quickly cleaning your bits every day. (I don't shower every day).

On the other hand, my friend had a bidet in her bathroom and I always found it slightly disgusting and imagined her and her dh cleaning their arses.

DH isn't keen on having a bidet but then he doesn't tend to clean the toilets and also I would have thought he'd benefit from a quick and easy nethers-cleansing system.

Have a bath, sink and seperate shower.

Bidets are just wrong.

A bidet is for use after the toilet, why would you put one in a room where there was no toilet, that's just odd!
Also bidets are yuk!

Bidets are very strange.

I would have a loo but if you really don't want to then have a big walk-in shower and sink.

why would you have a bidet instead of a toilet?

how many other bathrooms do you have?

Spidermama · 31/10/2010 12:30

I think you're probably right.

At the moment we have three rooms where you can go to the loo. They're all small and deeply unsatisfying. The top one is just big enough for a bath, loo and small sink. The middle one is just big enough for a shower cubicle, sink and loo and the bottom one is just big enough for a loo and small sink.

I see you're point about wanting a bidet next to a loo because you want to wash after the loo.

Sometimes, and forgive the intimate nature of this info, I kind of staddle the bath to clean my bits if I don't intend to shower OR after sex.

Oh, so really you want a bidet for after sex.

An after sex bidet... Sorry that's made me chuckle! Please just put a toilet in there.
