Crikey, where has the daylight gone? Got up for church this morning then went back to bed afterwards around 12.30pm. And now it's 4.40pm. Suppose I'd better get up and see what DH and PILs are up to...
enjoy your chill time wasting and hoe you get better sleep tonight alice.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 28/11/2010 16:59

Wasting that sounds lovely :) Isn't it amazing how quick and easy shopping trips are when you don't have a DC in tow?

Happy Christmas JKS! Have the boys had pressies or are they waiting until the December version? Grin

We've had quite a successful day, got several presents sorted plus a new blind for the spare room which has been desperately needed for the best part of a year!
Bought DS some lovely snow boot things for going tramping in the cold and some more snuggly clothes - anyone with boys fed up with boring colours, go to John Lewis because they have got lovely things. I could have spent an absolute fortune.

OP posts:
HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 28/11/2010 17:44

Happy XMas JKS
Agree that XF last night was poor. Will be watching the results on fast forward here too or DH will leave.

Have discovered that lots of tea lights/fairy lights dotted about give of the kind of low level lighting that means you don't notice all the mess Hmm.

Nigella Xmas House - apologies for minor obsession. I blame the early nights.

Put up fairy lights put up one set

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 28/11/2010 17:53

HMHB - I am going to do the baubles in a vase thing, and perhaps a small set of fairy lights across my new mantlepiece once it is installed.

OP posts:
JustKeepSparkling · 28/11/2010 18:25

Can't quite see how to make a pile of baubles in a glass vase look anything poncey enough, not to look like i just have too many baubles and not enough flowers Grin

Boys have opened presents from PIL & Dh's aunt/cousins, so they are happy (well tbh DS1 is happy, DS2 doesn't care less...!).

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 28/11/2010 18:51

JKS - I think the key is needing poncy baubles - not sure how well I score on that front! Must get the decorations out actually and see what we have and what we need.

Does anyone else do what I've done today, which is to go shopping for presents for other people and end up buying things for myself in addition? I am so bad for this, December is always much more expensive than it should be for this very reason! Blush

TO DO
Unload dishwasher
Nappies into TD
Another load of washing
Sort out my Paypal so that I can pay for the trumpet I've won for DH on e-bay
Update Christmas spreadsheet with today's purchases
Try out new skincare regime
Sleep

Unfortunately I smashed my largest glass vase a couple of weeks ago Sad. Will have to find another one.

DS and I made paper snowflakes today but thats not in the same league.

Ali - at least if you buy yourself something you'll know you've got something nice for xmas rather than leaving it to chance Wink

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 28/11/2010 20:50

Evening Smile

JKS how come you are doing christmas early this year?

Ali i love JL kids clothes. My new thing is waiting for the huge Joules sale when it comes to our town and stocking up, really good bargains.

I like the idea of baubles looking poncey around the house, but feel it would look better in a house not already cluttered with crap Grin

Wasting will get back on with the porridge tomorrow. I put the electric pump on one side while feeding F earlier and got 1.5oz instead of the usual 5-6oz Sad

Alice don't panic about your milk, it will come back soon enough now that you're better. I used to always find that the day after I ate fish I had sooo much milk - really odd but might be worth a go?

JKS - that is nice actually, spreading the pressies rather than everything coming all at once.

HMHB - very true. Although I have given DH a fairly specific list this year Grin I have needed to buy more warm mat. things than I had planned for - being pregnant in the summer was much cheaper!!! - so my budget is creaking a little Wink
:( about the vase.

PIL off to Oz to see BIL, SIL + 3 DC for actual Christmas, so we had to fit it in early this year.
Worked out fine really, esp with a sprinkling of snow making the tree look 'appropriate' Grin

Poncey baubles, hmm, have a couple but think they are on the tree! Make tweak/remove some and give it a go.

Well remembered HMHB!!
Last year we knew we'd be in GOSH from the 16th so made the 14th Christmas Day, started Advent calendars early and everything!
Then did Christmas again on Boxing Day with my parents as we got out earlier than we thought we would.

Will be doing 'normal' Christmas with my parents on the 25th too :)
