What is the very best way to keep a carpet fresh. Ideas for a good shampoo or freshener. I have animals, lots of them Smile

bicarb 20 mins before you hoover. put a few drops of nice essential aromatherapy oil in it and let it dry before you sprinkle.

oops xpost. umm, i have a vax carpet cleaner and use the vax AAA shampoo.

booyhoo · 08/09/2010 09:46

but, it is addictive and expensive.

BollockBrain · 08/09/2010 09:50

I have the vax and the AAA shampoo, it has been waiting for me to use it for at least 2 years!

I don't mind the aromatherapy oil, just that boak making roses smell.

So, with the bicarb (which i have) what do you mean exactly? Do i sprinkle dry bicarb on the carpets, leave it for 20, then drip the oil on the carpet?

Sorry, probably being really thick! Thanks for answering though.

put a few drops of oil in the tub of bicarb and mix it around, about 10/15 drops for a full tub. let it dry thoroughly. this will probably take overnight to make sure it is really dry. once dry gice it another mix to break up any clumps and then sprinkle. after 20 mins, hoover. also you can sprinkle some of the oild in you hoover bag so when you are hoovering it wafts through the house. i have animals too so if you are anything like me you hoover alot.
