HELP. Cup of Tea on wool /not-scotchguarded carpet.

Poured a cup of Tea on the carpet yesterday. It isn't scotch guarded and is fairly new.

Cleaned it with vanish but it left a horrid brown stain.

Any ideas on what I can use now that it's dried out a bit or am I stuck with the stain Sad?

1001 Stains carpet mousse is pretty good at getting marks out.

If you google "remove tea stains from carpet" you will get lots of tips, mostly seeming to involve white wine.

For future use, whenever I've spilt tea on carpet in the past (that's a lot of times!) I grab a big towel, soak one half of it to dripping under a lukewarm tap (don't wring out, you want completely sopping wet), blot the stain with the dry end first (stamp on it) then scrub lightly with the soaking wet end.

It's worked so far. Requires fast action though.

PS. I know it's useless now but I really wouldn't ever use Vanish on a carpet (I am presuming you mean a Vanish stick? unless there's now Vanish carpet stain stuff I don't know about). It requires a lot of rinsing you can't do on carpet.

yeah, my wool carpet can be cleaned with 1001 carpet cleaner
OR, a mild bleach solution (water and bleach)
