how do you clean the drawer of your washing mashine

I about to do a service wash on my washing mashine. the drawer is out and soaking in the service liquid and I cleaned the rubber seal.
but the space where the drawer goes is absolutely disgusting - orange and black grime, rock hard washing powder residue...
how do you clean it?
I now sprayed it with bathroom cleaner and will attack it with a toothbrush, but how to get in all those nooks and crannies?

Mine is awful - the more I clean it the faster it seems to go black.

i did mine this mornings

used lots of hot water, tooth brush, microfibre cloth, and elbow grease...

i do mine regularly so it never gets really really bad.

have never worked out how to get the mouldy bits off the top inside the machine in the drawer slot though..

maybe I should get one of those small handheld steam cleaners?
I do the service wash about every 4 months or so (or whenever it gets too yucky), but it always amazes me how dirty and icky it gets...

Try using a baby-bottle brush. Mine is a nightmare as the machine is in a cupboard and I have to move the bloody thing to get the drawer out to clean it!

I make a paste of bi carb and White vinegar, spread it all around the inside of the drawer then wipe off with hot water and cloth/old toothbrush about 20-30 mins later!

thanks, I will try that next time. the drawer slot is a real bugger to get to. the front is no problem but with my mashine (whirlpool 1000) the nooks get more and more the deeper you get into that drawer.

newer machines have drawers that come out.
(mine does and i put it in the dishwasher).

I use bleach and a bottle brush to get into the drawer space. I do wear safety goggles to do it as it sprays about a bit [wink ]

I put it in the dishwasher.
