How do I get the smell of vomit out of the carpet?

Does anyone know how to get the smell of projectile vomit out of a carpet and armchair. The whole house stinks. Thanks

Try biological washing powder/liquid in a solution with water and scrub! The biological washing powder should get rid of the smell but you will probably need a couple of goes. You have my sympathy we've had the same thing this week. Smell only just disappeared!

Hi

Give Zaflora a go - it;s a really small bottle of concentrated disinfectant - your supposed to just use i capful per 5 litres of water or something but I put half bottle in small bowl with warm water - took smell of vom from dd carpet and sofa right out - wonderful stuff. ! x

white vinegar will absorb the smell. dilute 50:50 with warm water and douse the area. leave it to sit for a few minutes then blot dry.

your house will smell like a chippy while the carpet dries but then it just smells fresh and clean. i personally can't stand the chemical-y fragrance of carpet cleaners, disenfectants etc. and i don't like using unecessary chemicals (have an allery/asthma ridden household!)

Bicarb also good. Sprinkle liberally (possibly ahving dampened the carpet etc first, if it's already dried out), leave to dry and vacuum off.

why not get one of the pet odour neutralisers that contain enzymes - they should help too. Try a pet shop or you can get them online.

Thanks for all the ideas. I've tried the biological washing liquid. It's still drying and still smells very bad so will try something else.

I second the pet odour stuff suggestion, especially anything that will tackle cat odour.

vinegar. also works with pee and poo. but not doggy smell

i use vinegar to get rid of doggy smells!

it works for me - i use it in my bisell carpet machine. leaves the carpets smelling fresh and clean without a hint of dog.

i buy loads of white vinegar, i love the stuff and use it for everything from carpet cleaning to sticking it in the washing machine in place of fabric conditioner.

charcoal is very good for absorbing odors. iirc you just lay some briquettes around on the area or I suppose you could crush them up and then vacuum later.

I've heard about using white vinegar instead of fabric softner. Might give it a go, would save some money.
