Council housing offer

Hi!

just after some advice really.

I’ve been offered a council property in Dover District in Kent.

i was wondering what the affordability checks consisted of? What information they need? What documents? Just want to be prepared as they said they would call within the next few weeks to do this with me.

im currently a single mum with 2 daughter and I live with my dad. I work part time, get universal credit, child benefit & child maintenance payments from the girls dad.

I don’t think I’ll have any issue with affording the property as I’m paying my dad £1200 to live where I am now (very expensive area our rent is £1700 for a 3 bed house - let alone bills).

will they need to talk to the landlord? Or my dad?

I have been waiting for a house for so long - now I’ve finally been offered one I’m super anxious and want to make sure I can tick all the boxes and get in!

Why are you paying £1200 right now? Are you living in Dads house or are you renting with him and he is paying £500?

Yeah I am living with my dad - he works away Monday - Friday, so we are in the house a lot more than him. So I agreed to pay a lot more towards everything as we obviously use it all more. So he pays the remaining rent cost & all the bills.
