Hello, I live under citizen housing and I want to love so badly, I have a full time job but I honestly can’t afford to go private as it’s just me. Would I be able to bid for another home? Would I be able to move to Birmingham City Council housing as I feel like they offer a lot more. I’m at a loss, I really hate where I live purely bc of my neighbours

If you’re in a council home then no you cannot just bid if you don’t like your home and want a new one. You can look to do a house swap if you know someone else with a council property who would like yours, I know where we are there’s a local FB page for this so your area may have one.

And no you can’t just apply for a different council.

You can bid for properties if you don't like your current one. However you will need to be registered and given a priority band, if you are adequately housed right now then you will be waiting a long time as no need to be moved.
Homeswapper.co.uk is the site for swaps between council/HA properties. Worth a look and definitely put photos of your property in and out to get more interest.
Tbh your post is one reason I'm not sure on moving in this way, I might get your neighbours 😂

@Mrsttcno1 of course she can apply for a different council/HA home, either within the same local authority or to another area. Do you think only private renters/owners or homeless people can apply for social housing?

Over the past thirty years I've lived in social housing within four different local authorities. The first move was due to needing an extra bedroom, the second was downsizing after my children left home and the last two moves have been purely because I wanted to move out to the countryside, then to a seaside town. I'll probably move one more time...

OP, you need to register with the local authorities you're hoping to move to and then start bidding. Obviously how fortunate you are depends both on your personal circumstances and the availability of housing in that area. Good luck.
