Council House

We applied for a direct let Council Property (via Rightmove). We were contacted and asked to send over all ID, proof of income, complete affordability assessment, provide landlord reference within 2 days or they would move on to the next applicant on the short list. And that we wouldn’t be contacted again unless we were offered a viewing.
I was emailed the same day after sending all the documents over advising that they would call me today. Unfortunately they got caught up with an emergency and they emailed me to advise they will be calling me tomorrow to arrange the inperson Right to Rent checks at their office (they have already had them via email but I’m aware legally they have to do them in person).
With them wanting to proceed to the in person verification after already seeing the documents via email that the house is ours if we want it? Or is there still a chance that they could give it to somebody else?
with them saying if the documents weren’t provided in time they would move to the next applicant on the shortlist I presume that they are only going 1 at a time rather then groups possibly.
really hoping we get this house as we are in a 2 bed with 6 of us and really need to move to a 3 bed.

thanks
