im thinking of moving from my housing association and going into private housing just wanting to know if anybody has moved from council/ HA into private and was it a better choice ?

If you are in affordable, secure housing it seems madness to risk private rental. It’s really expensive, and you could have the LL sell the property at any time, meaning you have to pack up and move. You could be packing up and moving multiple times.
If you have issues where you are could you do a HA house swap and move elsewhere? DM has done this.

Don't do it. Why would you give up a completely secure, lower cost tenancy for an insecure, more expensive short term tenancy? Moving costs etc too. If you don't like where you live, try to get a mutual exchange.

Definitely do not give up the security of HA home to rent privately. You’ll be paying extortionate rent and are at the constant risk of being evicted and increasing rents, as well as arguments over liability for repairs.

I’m thinking of doing this as don’t like my area and swaps are impossible when you have a rubbish area

My advice. Don't do it !
