Hi

I’ve been in my SH flat for 2 years
for that 2 years I’ve had to deal with a nightmare neighbour , I’ve reported her numerous times last night and this year , the past 2 months it’s got worse and the police have been involved
unfortunately my SH are awful and aren’t doing anything / taking anything seriously
My mental health has taken a massive dip and it’s also effecting my 2 year old daughter and effecting my work and I feel uncomfortable being here .
I have the doctors next week to speak to them about my MH and the situation , can they help to speak to the SH ?
I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to help me move , my SH say they won’t move me and I’ve been trying to swap for 2 years
but I just can’t mentally deal with this anymore 😭😭 any advice welcome .

  • I’ve looked at private renting but I simply cannot afford it 😭

What’s your neighbour doing exactly?
you can also get shit neighbours in private?

Depending where you are, I think you'd be advised to privately rent - not much SH available and the ones that are are in great demand. Only thing is to report the neighbour for antisocial behaviour if the person is breaking the terms and conditions of their tenancy but other than that I think if you want to move for what isn't seen as a strong reason you'd have to find alternative accommodation in the private sector.

I disagree never give up SH you will never get another and you need security for yourself and child potentially you could move every 6 months or live in squalor renting privately do not do that plus you never get the bond back

When you say LL not doing anything, what do you mean? Have you been given diaries to complete? If so fill them, send them back, ask for more. Record everything that is bothering you, and do not give up the security of tenure that SH gives you. You might feel like you are hounding the LL but you need them to get as agitated as you are. The threshold for action is very high, but it is reachable.

Can you not apply for a transfer? When I had problems with my last flat I lived in, I had stuff vandalised including my car, I asked for a transfer and I was given a new flat in a nice village after bidding for various homes as per homechoice rules etc. It was from a council flat to a HA flat. I wonder if you could do the same thing? I’m not sure why they have to make it so difficult for you 😞
