DC has been given this sheet and cannot do it. I understand that it is to do with ratios, and could work out the answers to the first three questions with trial and error, but assume there must be a more direct way? Is the 4th question simply trial and error?

Thanks

It’s about working systematically.
There are 22 different solutions to number 83. You work out 11 of them, and then change over the two digits in the top right and bottom left to create the other 11.

Thanks @NovemberWitch. When you say systematically, do you mean trying each possible combination until you hit the right one? There isn’t a formula to get the right combination straight away?

I just clicked on my photo and it looks really blurred (despite the original being clear). Can anyone else read it?

Sorry, cant read them well enough to answer.
But in general, if you have 2 unknowns, and only one possible equation, you cant get a single answer.
If I'm reading them correctly, i'd start by looking at combinations of the final numbers that make a 0 at the end. So, I think you've got an .80 and .40 in the first question. So combinations of
80, 80, 40
80, 40, 40, 40
To get a whole number of pounds.
