36pi mm

CuckooCuckooClock · 17/02/2020 13:42

Area = pi x (r squared)

CuckooCuckooClock · 17/02/2020 13:43

Oops - unit should be mm squared I think

Barneythedinosaur · 17/02/2020 13:44

Area of circle is pi * r^2

Radius is half the diameter - in this case 6mm.
So 6^2=36
Therefore it would be 36pi aand units mm2 (as you have done 2 for the number you also do it for units)

Hirsutefirs · 17/02/2020 13:44

The units are square mm.

purplelila2 · 17/02/2020 13:44

@CuckooCuckooClock nope saying it's not correct😪

Not looked at the answer but that website does my head in. So many times we have the answer but can't work our how maths watch wants it in put. Sorry rant over!

CuckooCuckooClock · 17/02/2020 13:47

So the answer is 36pi
The units are mm squared

purplelila2 · 17/02/2020 13:52

@sm40 that's the issue We have the answer and we're pretty sure the answer to the Units is also correct as confirmed by posters above but still saying our units are incorrect!

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 17/02/2020 13:56

You dont need a number where its asking for the units so it's just mm²

dementedpixie · 17/02/2020 13:57

Stop putting 36 in with the units

purplelila2 · 17/02/2020 14:00

@dementedpixie thank you!
we didn't need to put the 36 in there

dementedpixie · 17/02/2020 14:02

Plus the answer would have been 113.1mm² anyway

SirTobyBelch · 22/02/2020 09:26

@dementedpixie - the question asked for the answer in terms of pi. So the correct answer is 36π mm².

dementedpixie · 22/02/2020 09:31

That's not what the OP input though. One of their answers they put in for units was 36mm² and that's the one I was saying was wrong as it should just be mm²

dementedpixie · 22/02/2020 09:33

OP had the correct answer for the first bit when expressing in terms of pi. She was questioning the answer when it asked for the units only.
