D&t homework

Hi all ,just sitting here with year 7 daughter doing homework.we need to write an article about a piece of technology she couldn't do without.
She then needs to redesign it and draw a picture of it.Any ideas it's just anything we think of we find hard to improve?Thanks in advance!

not exactly the most exciting, but a microwave with multiple layers so you can put plates and cups/bowls in to heat at the same time?
