DC is 4 and has homework for every night of the week!
2 reading books to read ( recorded in reading log)
a sound book which is random words to read
Phonics book to sound out letters
Finger writing book for formation of letters
Name card to write name 5 times
And a little 6page booklet of specific letters and numbers to write, colouring in pictures, sequencing & patterns.

Aibu that this seems quite a lot?

That is a lot.

My dc is in year 1. In reception the homework was a reading book weekly (often changed only every 2/3 weeks) and we were encouraged to read nightly. In holidays etc there might be a making project eg make a model of something.

In year 1 it started off reasonably but is currently reading book weekly, phonics sheet weekly for home practice only, 6 spellings weekly, a page of maths homework book, a page of English homework book, and maths homework also on mymaths website.

It takes about 30 mins weekly depending on child.

That is a lot. I have a sister who is in Year R. Currently she has one or two pieces of homework each day to do with help. It varies really.

This week she has had:

A numeracy booklet from school for topics like money and so on
A literacy mini pack with spelling words etc
A geography worksheet
A science task or videoclip to watch with parents at home
A history assignment

One bit of art homework
