Y7 homework

Hi my Ds is in Y7. He loves the school, has no issues going, enjoys after school clubs & has become a pro active member of the student council. My concern is that he is struggling with homework. He literally puts "I don't know" as an answer to any task....

Is he a member of homework club? Do you sit down and do his homework with him? Seems like he might be struggling with the idea independent learning seeing as he’s so involved elsewhere?

PurpleDaisies · 22/11/2018 23:43

Is it a confidence thing? Sometimes students are really worried about getting things wrong so they’d rather put nothing instead. Or I’d he rushing so he can do other things?

Loulakins · 22/11/2018 23:45

I do sit with him to help him and make suggestions but then he gets to the point where he seems frustrated and just leaves it

The other thing to check is whether the tasks are pitched appropriately m. Do the teachers think he should be able to have a good go at the tasks?

There is an a touch of rushing to play his games etc which I accept. However it's getting beyond that. I think I will try to contact the school.

There is normally a parents evening in first term - I would be very concerned if my son were struggling to this degree and I hadn’t been contacted by school to discuss the way forward

dawn, Oksi - I'm sure your essay-writing suggestions will be most useful to the OP who posted about her son's struggles with Y7 homework, ten months ago... Hmm

Thanks for the reports about this thread. It's an old one which keeps on attracting spammers so we're closing it to new posts.

The OP's DS will have started his GCSEs by now...
