Homework being marked be other kids

Hey was wondering if anybody had a thoughts or experienced this at there children's schools. My child is in year 4 and the teacher has told me that marking other children's work is in the curriculum. Many parents complained to the school as did I because my child has been called stupid because of this technique. The teacher then said that a parent could mark all the children's homework instead. The whole situation seems a bit bizarre to me but the school seem to think it's OK.

Many thanks Mel

It is fairly normal at our school. Everyone swaps with the person next to them, and the teachers tells them the correct answer. They then discuss why or how.

If anyone is calling people names, then that needs to be called out.

In my dad they lay out all the homework books and kids votes for 'homework of the week's winner. They can also write a positive comment on classmates books if they like. I think it's lovely and creates a supportive peer learning environment.

Teacher will mark and write comment too.

Agree with Senior. Marking by other child is fine. Calling name isn't.
