Can I check I have this right?

Dd's question asks her to remove the brackets in this equation:
5(4a + 7)
She has come up with 55a (i.e. 5x4a, 5x7 and add the 20 and 35).
I think this is not right and the answer is 20a + 35.
Can you tell me if I've missed something?

You are right, 20a + 35. The a is an unknown, so you cannot add it to the 35.

Multiply both parts by the 5
