Am 'helping' DS (year 6) with maths homework.
But one of the problems doesn't make sense to me. Have worked all others out correctly (checked with calculator) and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong with this one, even though I'm using the same method.
So it's 2453 divided by 8
So the way we did it was, 8 into 24 goes 3, 8 into 53 goes 6, remainder 5, making the answer 36 (r5) which is obviously not correct. The calculator showed us the answer should be 306 not 36 but where did that zero come from??
